    1. [INDEARBO] RUTH ARMSTRONG OF EARLY LAWRENCEBURGH CITY
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: ARMSTRONG, NORRIS Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Sh.2ADI/1896 Message Board Post: There was a Ruth Armstrong, head of household, in Miami township of Hamilton Co. OH in 1820. I've got to presume she was a widow, rather than a spinster head of household. Cleves was platted in late 1818 from part of North Bend and by 1830 Ruth was a head of household in Cleves. I had a ggggf Stephen Armstrong born in early 1818 in North Bend, so that part of North Bend might subsequently have been within Cleves corporate limits and I'm speculating Ruth was perhaps his mother, and possibly also the mother of Cyrus Armstrong. Cyrus, by now about 25, was a head of household in Cleves in 1830 also. Cyrus appears in Lawrenceburgh City in Dearborn in 1840, and again in 1850 and 1860. In 1850 it shows a Ruth Armstrong in Cyrus household, age 11, New Jersey birth. I think it was really age 71, a transcription error, but I don't have the Census source document at hand. Next I show a Ruth Armstrong death in Evansville, IN in 1864, age 85, born in PA, buried in the same Oak Hil! l cemetery as Cyrus and all his later family. Cyrus had relocated to Evansville sometime after 1861. No sign of Ruth in the 1860 census yet found, unfortunately. NJ and PA are close. Perhaps one became part of the other in her 1779 birth era and place of birth. Going back further, I find a Ruth Norris marriage in Hamilton Co, OH in Feb. 1811 to Nathaniel Armstrong. I'm thinking this is the one who shows up a widow in the 1820 Miami township of Hamilton Co. To thicken the soup, my Stephen Armstrong relocated to Evansville by 1839, but his census data shows his mother to have been born in NC, father in IRE. He, and Cyrus, and some Cyrus son's, Uel and Jesse, were all furniture makers. Stephen lived either in Evansville, Vanderburgh Co or Warrick Co. most of his later life, finally in Pike Co. IN. I think they are all related but I can't yet prove how. Pinpointing Ruth, and possibly Nathaniel might be the proof. Who can research this single or set of Ruth Armstrong's with possible Nathaniel Armstrong for me and make heads or tails of it.
