Surnames: ARMSTRONG, AKIN Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Sh.2ADI/1892 Message Board Post: Cyrus & Katherine Armstrong were early residents of Lawrenceburgh, but I don't know how early, other than the 1860 Census. I believe they were there in 1832 when their son Uel W. Armstrong was born. They were cabinetmakers in the furniture business, later in Evansville and Memphis. I'd like more info on their period around Lawrenceburgh and possibly nearby North Bend. Cyrus bought 80 acres "between the Miami's" in 1831, but I'm not sure exactly where that parcel is, whether Hamilton Co. or in Dearborn. I've read Rev. Judge Jos. Cotton's "Poems" excepts on a Dearborn Co. site, and therein he mentions old Walter Armstrong, as well as a James Armstrong, both of Lawrenceburgh. I suspect Walter might be the patriarch from Ireland. Stephen Armstrong, my ancestor, was born in North Bend, a short hop away, in 1818 and had an Irish father and a North Carolina mother. I believe that Cyrus and Stephen might be brothers, with Cyrus born about 1806. Lucinda Hood might have been a ! sister. All three born in OH. Come forth and tell me more folks. Cyrus had Uel W., Jesse W. and Stephen (not my Stephen). Everyone in this family seemed to have W as a middle name (even before POTUS George W!), so I'm speculating it might be W for Walter. I think Cyrus' wife Katherine might be an Akin or Aiken from New York or New Hampshire as an age 85 Martha Akin of NJ was in their household in 1860. Need help with old Wills, births, marriage, death data from early Armstrongs, Akins in Lawrenceburgh.
