I wish I knew which Armstrong family Margaret came from. Here is what I do know: Her maiden name "Armstrong" is found in a Biographical Sketch of her son, Benjamin WILSON, Jr. in "History of Dearborn and Ohio Counties, Indiana". She was born in 1771 in either MD or PA (perhaps in the Maryland/PA border area. She died in 1843 at age 72 years and is buried in the Wilson family graveyard in Washington Township, Dearborn Co., IN, near Laughery Creek, along with Wilson family members (No Armstrongs listed in records of marked graves there).. She bore 8 children, some born in Kentucky, possibly the younger ones born in Indiana Territory. They were: Ellen (Eleanor); James--my ancestor; Thomas; Joshua, Benjamin Jr., Elizabeth, Nancy and Ann. After she died, her husband Benj. Wilson Sr. married two more times. He died in 1861 and fortunately named all of his children (living and deceased) in his Will which was probated in Jefferson County, IN. Margaret is thought to be from an Irish/Scottish background. She is thought to be Protestant so perhaps her family was of the "Ulster Scots/Scotch-Irish group" ...I have no proof of her religious affiliation in Indiana but her descendants were Protestants and leaned toward Methodism. Since Margaret died before the Census of 1850, we do not have her name in any Census record; however, she and husband Benjamin Wilson owned a lot of land and her name is on Deed Records in Indiana, as his wife. They were very early landowners (as early as 1804 in Dearborn County); 12 years before Indiana became a state. Benjamin's name is in the 1807 Census of Indiana Territory (no women listed of course!) That's it. If you get any clues as to Margaret's parents, brothers, etc., I would be very happy to find out more. Jean in Indy
