It included land which is now Switzerland County, Ross Township of Ripley County; the area below Grant's Creek in 1809 became Jefferson County. Ohio County and Switzerland counties were formed about 1810; Ripley County was formed about then." "Benjamin Drake bought land for a settlement called 'New York' - present day Florence in Switzerland County. Benjamin and Robert owned land on what is now the upper end of Switzerland County." 1807 Tax List Dearborn CO, Indiana Territory, p. 22 Benjamin Drake Benjamin Drake was on a list of voters in Loglick Township, Dearborn CO, IN, 3 Aug. 1812.
