McCracken, son of James and Caroline Grubbs McCracken, was born February 24, 1865, near Bright, Indiana. Practically all of his life was spent in and near that village. The last two years, however, he lived in Florida. On October 29, 1889, he was united in marriage to Miss Clara Jackson, also of near Bright. To this union were born six children: Mrs. Ralph Currier of Nicollet, Minn., Amos and John of Indianapolis, Clyde of Ft. Wayne, Ora of Madison, Florida, Ollie of Sheldon, Ill. The mother having passed away July 10, 1908. On August 17, 1914, Mr. McCracken was united in marriage to Dora Russell. One daughter, Ruby, was born to this union. He became a member of the Presbyterian church and was at one time a member of the Modern Woodman. For the past few months his health was failing and about four weeks ago he was taken seriously ill, passing away at the hospital in Valdosta, Georgia, Wednesday, October 22, 1924, being 59years, 7months, and 28days of age. He leaves to mourn his death a wife, seven children, one sister, one brother, and many relatives and friends. He was known as a man honest and upright, a true friend, affectionate father and husband.
