    3. Hello There are a couple of ways to check mortality records. You could check with a local genealogy society and ask if they have a copy of them. Or you could check with the state library or the state archives. Illinois has both a historical library and a state archive. They have the records on file in the archives. You could check with the Indiana state library. If you give them the person's name and date of death, they will get you copies and only charge you for the copy.
