It included land which is now Switzerland County, Ross Township of Ripley County; the area below Grant's Creek in 1809 became Jefferson County. Ohio County and Switzerland counties were formed about 1810; Ripley County was formed about then." "Benjamin Drake bought land for a settlement called 'New York' - present day Florence in Switzerland County. Benjamin and Robert owned land on what is now the upper end of Switzerland County." 1807 Tax List Dearborn CO, Indiana Territory, p. 22 Benjamin Drake Benjamin Drake was on a list of voters in Loglick Township, Dearborn CO, IN, 3 Aug. 1812. Gy: I must have missed the original posts regarding Rudolph Kern. I may be able to help you with some information. I grew up in Harrison, OH (in the '40s & '50s) and lived next door to Rudolph "Buzz" Kern Jr. and played with his children. Buzz was my Cub Scoutmaster and his wife, Leona, was my Den Mother. Buzz's father, Rudolph "Pops" Kern, Sr. lived a block away and I also knew him, but not as well. As you may know, Harrison, OH and West Harrison, IN are up against each other, and the state line runs down the center of (you can probably guess this) State St. The Kerns' drug store, West Side Drugs, was on the IN side, right across State St. from my father's grocery store, Whitewater Market, which was in OH. I've had many ice cream cones from their soda fountain. Let me know how I can help you. John Grubbs
I have uncovered additional information on my Charles L Bauer from St John's Lutheran Church records I recently received. According to these records Charles was born as Carl Ludwig Bauer on 17 Mar 1868. He was the youngest of seven and only son of Karl Friedrich Bauer (aka Charles) born 3 Mar 1825 in Rielingshausen, Wurttemberg, Germany, died 2 Sep 1906 in Aurora and Anna Katharine Schultheis born 7 Jun 1826 in Burgstall, Wurttemberg, Germany, died 1 Aug 1900 also in Aurora. I have requested death certificates for Karl and Anna, but have not received as yet. Do either of these German towns match up with any of your families? In about 1940 all the graves were remove to the Greendale Cemetery to make way for the flood levee improvement. According to the "Dearborn County Indiana Cemetery Records Volume A Part 2" by Milton A. Masing, there was a Andreas Ebert born about 1818 and died 31AUG1859. This is the only Ebert listed in the Lawrenceburg area cemeteries. There was a removal list published in the Larenceburg Register, 25JUL1940. Hope this info is of help. The church cemetery (aka Busse Cemetery) is located just south-east of Weisburg off Weisburg Road. Turn onto Ester Road. The cemetery is at the intersection of Ester and Schwier Road. If you are interested in any particulars about the cemetery, you should contact Doris and Donald Schwier who live next to the cemetery and maintain it. Their e-mail address is doubledd@nalu.net unless it has changed in the last year.

Roger Minert's "German Immigrants in American Church Records" Vol 1: Indiana Protestant, has translated some of the church records. The book only has about a half page about St. Stephen's. The names included are: Munstermann, Sponcel, Wiesehahn, Schwier, Conrad, Fillewarth, Enders, Bach, Meinzen, Meister, and Enders. Tom Cassidy
