Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Sh.2ADI/1802.2.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Very interesting reference. It's the right Margaret alright. Only thing wrong in the reference is that they moved to DEARBORN Co., not Ohio County. In fact there was no Ohio Co. in 1805; it was formed from Dearborn in 1844 after Margaret's death. They never did live on the Ohio County side of Laughery Creek, just in Dearborn Co. (details, details). I wonder where the information came from that they moved to KY in 1794 ?? Means they were married BEFORE coming to KY if this is accurate. I have searched for the Armstrong-Wilson marriage in KY and PA and MD records. No luck yet. Ohio became a state in 1803, so if they were married in what is now Ohio, it was a Territory in 1790s... hmmmm. Any ideas as to how to proceed? Jean in Indy P.S. With this on the public BB, maybe someone else will read this and give some advice.

Her first marriage was to a Ruble. I thought it was to Harry Ruble, not Benjamin Ruble, but I don't have any documentation for the Ruble connection. Her son was Harry E. Ruble, b. abt. 1874, which could be the confusion. I have her in the 1870 census as d/o Zachariah age 18. In 1880 she was married to Jerome Ellis age 51from NY with step son Harry E. Ruble age 6 living in Dillsboro. My grandmother was Estella Emma Mae Ellis b. 24-Dec-1892 and married John Valentine Schwing from Greendale. Jerome died 20-Mar-1900. Then Belle "changed" her birthday to May 11, 1860 and married a much younger William Wilson b. 9-Sep-1863 d. 15-Feb-1937 Any info on Belle and her husbands would be appreciated. Thanks, Greg

Surnames: Armstrong/Wilson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Sh.2ADI/1802.2.1 Message Board Post: Glad to get your message. I wish I knew which Armstrong family Margaret came from. Here is what I do know: Her maiden name "Armstrong" is found in a Biographical Sketch of her son, Benjamin WILSON, Jr. in "History of Dearborn and Ohio Counties, Indiana". She was born in 1771 in either MD or PA (perhaps in the Maryland/PA border area. She died in 1843 at age 72 years and is buried in the Wilson family graveyard in Washington Township, Dearborn Co., IN, near Laughery Creek, along with Wilson family members (No Armstrongs listed in records of marked graves there).. She bore 8 children, some born in Kentucky, possibly the younger ones born in Indiana Territory. They were: Ellen (Eleanor); James--my ancestor; Thomas; Joshua, Benjamin Jr., Elizabeth, Nancy and Ann. After she died, her husband Benj. Wilson Sr. married two more times. He died in 1861 and fortunately named all of his children (living and deceased) in his Will which was probated in Jefferson County, IN. Margaret is thought to be from an Irish/Scottish background. She is thought to be Protestant so perhaps her family was of the "Ulster Scots/Scotch-Irish group" ...I have no proof of her religious affiliation in Indiana but her descendants were Protestants and leaned toward Methodism. Since Margaret died before the Census of 1850, we do not have her name in any Census record; however, she and husband Benjamin Wilson owned a lot of land and her name is on Deed Records in Indiana, as his wife. They were very early landowners (as early as 1804 in Dearborn County); 12 years before Indiana became a state. Benjamin's name is in the 1807 Census of Indiana Territory (no women listed of course!) That's it. If you get any clues as to Margaret's parents, brothers, etc., I would be very happy to find out more. Jean in Indy

Surnames: ARMSTRONG, AKIN Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Sh.2ADI/1892 Message Board Post: Cyrus & Katherine Armstrong were early residents of Lawrenceburgh, but I don't know how early, other than the 1860 Census. I believe they were there in 1832 when their son Uel W. Armstrong was born. They were cabinetmakers in the furniture business, later in Evansville and Memphis. I'd like more info on their period around Lawrenceburgh and possibly nearby North Bend. Cyrus bought 80 acres "between the Miami's" in 1831, but I'm not sure exactly where that parcel is, whether Hamilton Co. or in Dearborn. I've read Rev. Judge Jos. Cotton's "Poems" excepts on a Dearborn Co. site, and therein he mentions old Walter Armstrong, as well as a James Armstrong, both of Lawrenceburgh. I suspect Walter might be the patriarch from Ireland. Stephen Armstrong, my ancestor, was born in North Bend, a short hop away, in 1818 and had an Irish father and a North Carolina mother. I believe that Cyrus and Stephen might be brothers, with Cyrus born about 1806. Lucinda Hood might have been a ! sister. All three born in OH. Come forth and tell me more folks. Cyrus had Uel W., Jesse W. and Stephen (not my Stephen). Everyone in this family seemed to have W as a middle name (even before POTUS George W!), so I'm speculating it might be W for Walter. I think Cyrus' wife Katherine might be an Akin or Aiken from New York or New Hampshire as an age 85 Martha Akin of NJ was in their household in 1860. Need help with old Wills, births, marriage, death data from early Armstrongs, Akins in Lawrenceburgh.
