I have 12 May 1879, but suspect the year is more likely 1881. I do not believe she appears with her family in the 1880 census. I also would like to know whether Valley is her given name or a nickname. The birth record may be able to tell me. Valley married Ross J. ELLSWORTH in Muncie on 18 March 1875. Barbara Webb

Could someone on this list with cemtery indexes help me. I am looking for the cemetery of burial for Adam Boerstler born December 14, 1852 - died July 20, 1936. One possibility is the German Methodist Cemetery in Dearborn County. His wife Maria Ann Boerstler nee Kuntz is buried in St. Peters Cemetery but as far as I can tell he is not there with her. Any help with Adam will be much appreciated. Jane
The only marriage license that I found in Indiana was for a Jacob Schmid/Smith in 1848 and Matilda Bundy. In the 1850 census of Marion Co., IA Jacob and Matilda with Matilda born in IN. Jacob enlisted in the Mexican War at Brookville, IN. In 1854, Jacob married Emerinthia Ohnemus in Keokuk Co., IA. I have a copy of the pension Jacob's widow (Emerinthia Ohnemus) received. I can not find anymore about Matilda and what happened to her. Judi Hamm Johns - Do you have any information where a Jacob shows up in your records? I still think that Jacob Schmidt/Schmidt/Smith lived with his parents in Franklin, Dearborn or Orange Counties, Indiana. Thank you for any information that you can give me. Bev Jones

David I have visited with you before and you have relation around Rosemount, Warren Co., IA and my Jacob Schmitt/Schmidt/Smith received a land grant from the Mexican War at Bauer, Marion Co., IA. Do you have any information on Michael Schmidt that lived around Rosemount, Warren Co., IA? The information on passenter and immigration index and found on Ancestry.Com. This is the extension http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.d11?indiv=1&gsfn=Adam&gs... Do you know where I could find the pages they are referring to? I have a copy of a marriage from State Board of Health of Michael Schmidt who lived at Rosemount, Warren Co., IA age 31, born Allharliey, Germany (hard to read), Father George Schmidt, Mother Anna Ebbner, Bride Catherine Diffiuer (hard to read) Mothers maiden name Margaret Kessler. Married at Rosemount November 18 1884. I copied this from the records at Sacred Heart Church at Melcher/Dallas, IA. Sacred Heart has very few records. I have been looking for old records of Bauer Catholic Church. The oldest record I can find is about 1888, which I think you gave me. I know that Jacob Schmidt was buried at the Bauer Cemetery in 1863. There has to be records someplace. I have written the Davenport Diocese and also Georgetown and both say they don't have anything. If you have any information on Michael Schmidt, let me know. There is a Carl Schmidt family East of Knoxville, who was from Alsace Lorraine, France that is have been trying to connect but nothing. Fred I have thought for a long time that Adam was the father of Jacob Schmidt but I can't prove it. In the Index of Burials at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery, Highland Township, Franklin County, IN there is the following: Jacob Schmidt died July 14 1864 72 years old. Adam Schmitt died october 7, 1874 74 years old John Schmitt died 1875 69 years old John Adam Schmitt 66 years old died March 21 1892 I have searched passenger and Immigration lists index 1500s - 19001 Adam Smith Year 1834 Place Baltimore Source Code 2182 Primary Immigrant Smith, Adam Name, date, and place of birth, arrival in the United States, lcoations thereafter, and family inforamtion. Mostly Franklin COunty. Index to the names is on PP 71 and 72. Source Bibliography. Franklin County, Indiana, naturalization REcords, BOok 1, 23 September 1826 - 11 March 1839 (Complied by REbah M. Fraustein.) In the Hoosier Genealogist, vol 18:4 (Dec 1978), pp 59-72. Page 66 How do I find more information on the above? Who do I write to? I also found the following: Immigrant Ships Transcribers Guild Ship Charles Ferdinand Bremen, Germany to Baltimore, Maryland September 16, 1833 Adam Schmidt Bechtheim 2 1(child 8-12) 1(child 4-8) 2(child 1-4) (Jacob at this time would have been about 6) A note below this entry was that Adam and family settlet in Ripley County, Indiana. He and wife raised 9 Children. Changed the name to SMith soon after arrival. Both are buried at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, STumpke's Corner, Ripley Co. On the markers show Schmidt: I have never been able to find out anything from Ripley County. I need to look at Ripley COunty, IN again. I have been looking for any information on my grgrgrandfather Jacob Schmidt/Smith, who was born in 1827 in Alsace/Lorraine. I have no idea who his parents were. We were told that he came to America when he was four years old. In 1847, Jacob enlisted in the Mexican War at Brookville, Franklin Co., IN. I have a copy of his discharge papers and he states that he was born in Alsace/Lorraine. I have looked around Brookville for any information on the Schmidt/Smith and there are some buried at Brookville but it seems none connect to my family. In Orange Co., IN there is a marriage license for Jacob Schmidt and Matilda Bundy in 1848. It states the approval of Father but no names. In 1850 Jacob received a land grant for the Mexican War and it was at Bauer, Marion Co., IA. Jacob and Matilda show up in the 1850 census in Marion Co., IA. The Metz and Bauer, who were German families came to America in 1833 and settled in Indiana and then came to Bauer, Marion Co., IA around 1848. I think that Jacob Schmidt is connected to these families and that is why he came to Bauer Marion Co., Iowa. Does anyone have any connection to these families in Dearborn or Franklin Co., IN?
