Elmer has a living son, Norman, & a living grandson, Norman. We are at present trying to trace back Henry's geneology. His father was a Wilhelm Kleinhans & we think Henry was from Schwerte, Germany. At present we do not know where Henry's naturalization process took place. We know it wasn't Dayton, Oh. Ancestry lists a Henry Kleinhans staying with a Marie Graeff in Chicago, Ill. somewhere in the 1870s. We wonder if Henry wasn't naturalized in Cook Co., IL. These were carefully proofread before posting here. Any "errors" you may spot were as published in the newspaper. Susan D. Engle ---------- Obit 1. Mary Elizabeth Miller {Reverse side: ads for (1) Meneely & Co. ... Bells (2) Bowlden Bells (3) Blymer Church Bells [none are for local businesses]} MILLER.---Miss Mary E. Miller was born February 17, 1844, at Miller's Mill, near Dillsboro, Ind., and died suddenly at Greencastle, Ind., April 16, 1909. While yet a child she united with the Methodist church at Dillsboro. She became an ardent Church worker, laboring for many years in the Sunday-school as a teacher. In later years she transferred her membership to Mt. Tabor church, the same charge, where she became a zealous member of the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society. She was loving, patient, kind, generous, Christ-like. She was the first to be called home to heaven out of a family of eight children, the youngest of whom is over fifty years of age. Her funeral was conducted in Mt. Tabor church, Dillsboro Circuit, by a former pastor, C. E. Hester, assisted by the present pastor, H. H. Sheldon. The interment was in the family lot near the church. ---------- Obit 2. Mary Elizabeth Miller {Reverse: notes about persons - see below} Mr. and Mrs. Henry Holtegel, Mrs. J. D. Smith, Mrs. Sophia Wills, J. C. and Alice VanDolah, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cain, Dr. C. L. VanOsdol and family, Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Wheeler, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Licking, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Croxton, Mrs. Cora Cole and Miss Mary Chase attended the funeral of Miss Mary E. Miller. Miss Mary E. Miller, formerly of Dillsboro, died suddenly Friday morning of apoplexy at the home of her sister, Mrs. Emma Schmolsmire, at Greencastle, Ind. Her body was brought to Aurora Saturday to the home of her sister, Mrs. G. W. Sawdon. Funeral services were held Sunday morning at Mt. Tabor church and were conducted by Rev. C. E. Hester of Homestead, assisted by Rev. H. H. Sheldon. There was a large audience of kind and sympathizing friends. Mary was a christian lady, a true friend, loved by all, and will be greatly missed in her home and in the church. {Reverse side: notes about persons from elsewhere} {Probably from a Lawrenceburg newspaper, possibly on or after Monday April 19, 1909, because it states "services were held Sunday…" {At the top of the clipping, there are large letters, such as on a front page or front of a section: "(N)CEBURG" {Beneath is a heavy line, then these personal notes in a standard width newspaper column}: Mrs. George W. Bools and children are spending a few days with relatives here, after which they will leave for their new home at Denver, Col. Mrs. Carl Crocker of North Vernon was here Monday evening, while on the way to Guilford where she had been called by the illness of her mother. Miss Corinne Tebbs underwent a surgical operation Saturday for appendicitis. She is improving nicely and her friends will be pleased to learn that her ultimate recovery is assured. ---------- Obit 3. Mary Elizabeth Miller {Reverse side: article and drawing, "Hedge Trimming Made Easy"} {Very similar to Obit 4, but this one is better edited and proofed than 4.} Obituary. Mary Elizabeth Miller was born Feb. 17, 1844, at Miller's Mill near Dillsboro, Ind., and died very unexpectedly at the home of her sister Mrs. Emma Schmolsmire, at Greencastle, Ind., Friday, April 16, 1909. She was the eldest daughter of William B. and Sarah A. Miller. At an early age she united with the Dillsboro M. E. church under the pastorate of Rev. James McCall. A few years previous to her death she transferred her membership to the Mt. Tabor church. She was a student of Moores Hill college, graduating in the class of '68. She made her home with her sisters, Mrs. Anna Sawdon and Mrs. Emma Schmolsmire, since the death of her parents, who preceded her to the heavenly home some twenty years. At the time of her death she was a member of the Mt. Tabor Missionary society and of the Pleasant View grange. She was devoted to her church and was for many years a teacher in the Dillsboro Sabbath School. She was very much attached to the missionary society, looking forward from one meeting to another to the pleasure of attending and was at the time of her death planning to come home for the next meeting, having written friends that she would be present. She was of a very timid and retiring disposition, but so gentle and lovable that she held a large place in the hearts of all who knew her. She loved everybody, but especially the children, every child of her acquaintance being a favorite with "Aunt May." She was happy and contented, seeking others' happiness before her own. Truly, her life was patterned after the Master's. Wherever she went the blessing of her patient, cheery life was felt and not one, but many homes will be the sadder that "Aunt May" will come no more. She was the first called home of a family of eight children, leaving the following: Dr. C. B. Miller, Helena, Mont., J. G. Miller, Ft. Smith, Ark., Mrs. Anna Sawdon, Aurora, Ind., Mrs. Emma Schmolsmire, Greencastle, Ind., R. W. Miller, Dillsboro, Ind., Dr. R. H. Miller, Cross Plains, Ind., and E. D. I can't remember if it's in Jackson Twp., or one of the adjoining townships. The church itself has been gone for many years, but the cemetery remains. I do know that the records have been microfilmed by the LDS and are available through any Family History Center (they are also in the Lawrenceburg library). The church is more commonly known as the "Busse Church" because of the last pastor's name...Given the haphazzard state of the cemetery, if you can read German, the records will give a wealth of information. Hope this helps.
