Surnames: Spicknall, Whittaker Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Sh.2ADI/2249.1 Message Board Post: The Dearborn County Interim Report, published in 1983 by the Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology for the Indiana Historic Sites & Structures Inventory, lists several Johnston buildings on page 69. They are in Manchester Twp. on North Hogan Rd. The George Johnston House, survey number 350062, is listed as a Federal style house built circa 1820, significant for its architecture and association with exploration and settlement. The Joseph Johnston Mill & House, survey number 350063, is listed as Federal style, built circa 1847, significant for its architecture and associations with commerce, exploration, and settlement. Both were evaluated as "Outstanding" resources (the highest level) at the time. I would imagine that the survey forms recorded further information. You could contact the state Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology to find out more: http://www.state.in.us/dnr/historic/

    1. MAUNE / DANIEL
    2. Cheryl Hartley
    3. Greetings! I'm new to this list, though not new to genealogy. I am looking for descendants or researchers of the MAUNE family, originally from Hannover, Germany, about 1864. I have strong evidence that there is a connection to my gg-grandmother Mary Elizabeth MAUNE, b. Nov 20, 1839, in Hannover. She married Wilhelm Joseph BEERMANN in Cincinnati around 1860. I know there is a connection through Gerhardt DANIEL and his wife Mary MAUNE DANIEL, but it is still unclear how Mary Elizabeth fits in the family. I have all the census data and the ship's passenger list for this family, but can't work out the relationship. Mary Elizabeth MAUNE (age 29) is in the 1870 Cincinnati census with her husband and four children, so is not the same Elizabeth (age 29) with Frank MANNING and family in Dearborn, IN, census in the same year. By the way, Mary Elizabeth Beermann's death certificate lists her father as Frank MAUNE, mother unknown. I think there are still MAUNEs in southeastern Indiana. My dad used to visit the DANIEL family in Fayette County, IN, as a child. They originated in Dearborn County. I hope someone can help me solve this mystery! Thanks, Cheryl Biermann Hartley Beckley, WV
