    1. Re: [INDEARBO] 1930 census for free for 3 days
    2. When the census page comes on the screen, click on the census image, you'll get a little hand. Use the hand to drag the image around in the window. That way you can see more hand just the first few listings. -----Original Message----- From: John Bishop <llamsbishop@msn.com> To: Cricri88@aol.com Sent: Sat, 24 Jun 2006 09:47:28 -0500 Subject: Re: [INDEARBO] 1930 census for free for 3 days Hi, I've been trying this site for 1 1/2 days and can't get the info it says it has on my ancestors. The census page does come on screen but only shows the first 10 lines of names. When I hit "expand search" I get the ad from Ancestry. com to sign up for one of their programs. Any suggestions? 3. I am looking for any information on Jacob 'Jacob' Schmidt/Schmitt/Smith born 20 oct 1827 Alsace/Lorraine France (Answella, France) and died 2 March 1863 Bauer, Marion Co., IA. We were told that Jacob came to America when four years old. I have a copy of when his Widow applied for a pension and the document states that Jacob entered the Mexican War at Brookville, Indiana in 1847. Jacob was discharged in 1848 and received a US Land Grant of 160 acres at Bauer, Marion County, IA. In 1850 US Census, he was at Bauer, Marion Co., IA and it states that he was born in France and he had a wife Matilda born in Indiana. In 1854, Jacob married Emerenthai Ohnemus at Keokuk, Lee County, IA. Three families, Alloys Bauer, Joseph Bauer and George Metz came to Iowa around 1848 and settled at Bauer, Marion Co., IA and built a church. These three families left Germany in 1833 and were around Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio and then in Franklin Co., IN before coming to Iowa. It looks like that Jacob Smith and his parents came to America about the same time that the Bauer and Metz came. In the History of St. Peter's Catholic Church, a number of German Immigrat Families arrived at Baltimore, Maryland aboard the ship, the Weser on August 15, 1833. Record of Contributors for St. Peter Church Building Fund, 1853-1860 , one of the contributors was Adam Schmitt (J. Senefield), Maria Anna Schmitt, Stephan Schmitt. I would like any information on Adam Schmitt to see if parents of Jacob. In Indiana Marriages, in Orange County, IN in 1848 there was a marriage of Jacob Schmitt and Matilda Bunda. I have visited with a lady and she has information on this marriage and they stayed in Indiana. Thank you for any information anyone can give me on Jacob Schmitt/Schmidt/Smith. I signed up regarding the Franklin Co., IN reunion and forgot to put the information on who I was researching. How do I change that request: Bev Jones
