Ah--found it. In "Luther New" No II, 1989, Janice Hagon has a newspaper article about John Long. John was born 3 Feb 1812 in VA. His parents moved to IN when he was about 10 years old. (Boone Co History 1880 is noted.) He married 1st Sarah Luther and four children were born. These were Nelson; Laura m Clark Luther; Julia m Sylvanus Bennett; Maria married Jacob Kendall. When Sarah passed away, the oldest child was 11 and the youngest was three. John remarried to Mary A Luther, a distant cousin of Sarah, and they had two children, Newton and Ira. He married a 3rd time to Rebecca Sturdivant, they had one son, Bennie, who died young. Now all I need is some dates. So--he married both Sarah and Mary! Patience Long who married William Luther must have been the sister of John Long, right?
