Mary, Shouldn't the local library have about the same information available in their genealogy department? I'm specifically looking for tax records, census records, cemetery transcriptions, voter registration records and mortality reports. In my local library, there is a file for family genealogy packets from researchers. Perhaps the library in Center Point will have a file similar to these.
