Thomas T. Criss, son of John C. Criss and Hannah Troth can be found in the 1900 Clay Co. census living in Brazil. Thomas was married several times. His first marriage was to Sarah Triplett, known as Sadie. They had a daughter named Minnie - whether that is her legal name I do not know. Sadie and Thomas divorced Jan. 4, 1896, and Sadie took custody of Minnie. Sadie then married Thomas Alderson on Jan. 17, 1897 and her ex-husband Thomas Criss married Ida M. Harsh on Nov. 16, 1898. Whether Minnie kept the name Criss, or took the name Alderson is unknown. Eventually she married someone named Ream. In the 1900 census she is age 8, living in the Alderson household and is listed as Alderson, not Criss, and it says her father was born in England - her step-father was born in England but her biological father Thomas Criss was born in Indiana. Probably a mistake by the census taker. Ida Harsh Criss died of peritonitis on Jan. 21, 1909. Thomas next married Laura Anderson on Nov. 1, 1915. If anyone knows anything about Minnie Criss, Minnie Alderson, or Minnie Ream, I would like to find out what happened to her. She would have been a cousin to my mother. If anyone knows anything about Ida Harsh or Laura Anderson, that would also be of interest.
