I know that I have found my grandfathers family on the census of 1880 and 1900 in Clay Co. IN. They came over to the U.S. from Wales and settled in Pennsylvania and then Harmony. The father and boys all worked in the mines, until the depression of the 30's, at one time the boys went together and bought some land and mined it until it played out. My great grandfather died sometime after 1900, his name was Robert Steele (b. october 1842) My great grandmother was Jane Carpenter Steele and sometimes Sarah Jane (b. May 1845). There children were: William b.3-28-1871, John 9-24-1872, Joseph 3-12-1874, Elizabeth 3-1875, James 2-21-1878, Thomas 1-11-1880, George 1-15-1882, Sarah Martha 1-27-1884, Herman 4-25-1886, Robert 2-24-1888, Frank and Archie ( Archie died sometime after birth, I think) 11-17-1892. There was an aunt Anna Steele b. 5-20-1869. William, John, Joseph, and Elizabeth were born in Pennsylvania the rest were born in Indiana. Sarah Martha is the only one I have been able to locate in the birth records in Clay Co. I have always been told that Robert and his wife Jane were buried in Harmony. I know that Robert Jr. is buried in Anderson, IN and Frank should be buried in Clay Co. Frank lived in Bowling Green as long as I can remember. Sarah Martha married some one with the last name of Bell and lived in the Clay Co. and Vigo Co. area. William may have gone back to PA to mine coal. I can't not believe how much I put down here, this is the first time I have put this all together in one place. Thank you for reading this, Karen
