My grandmother, Moynnevia Viola Bledsoe, was born in 1902 in Clay County to Joseph Melvin Bledsoe (1877-1962) and Etta Viola Lucas (1878-1954). Joseph and Etta were married 23 Oct 1901 in Clay County. My mother tells me she remembers Etta's parents being named Luke Bransford Lucas and Louisa O'Neal. However, a marriage record I found at GenealogyLibrary.com for Etta says her parents were named Brantley Lucas and Ida O'Neal. If anyone knows which version is correct, I'd much appreciate the information. She also says that Etta's father was about 30 and her mother was about 15 at the time they married, if that's any help. There is a "Luke Lucus" listed in the 1850 Clay County census in the household of Thomas and Elizabeth (nee Sanders?) Lucus, both listed as born in NC. I don't know if this is the same person or not.
