My great-grandfather Melvin DONHAM (1882-1960), born in Clay County, IN, to Ferdinand Lee DONHAM (1851-1927) and Florella Jane "Jennie" RECTOR (1862-1890s), went to the Alaska Gold Rush with Ferdinand around 1898. The two of them later ended up in San Francisco, where I was born and raised. Melvin's sister Goldie Elizabeth DONHAM (m. Lot Dean LOCKWOOD) was a nurse in World War I and later died in the Philippines in 1920. I have a lot of information on Ferdinand and Florella's ancestry, but right now I am trying to track through to the present all of the descendents of their brothers and sisters. Ferdinand was the son of Abijah DONHAM (1812-1864, son of William DONHAM and Sarah ARTHUR) and Margaret DONHAM (1815-1895, m2. Robert BENNETT, daughter of John DONHAM and Elizabeth BROWN).
