The town known as Middlebury in Clay County is really named Martz. When the post office was placed there it was determined that there was already a post office at a town Middlebury in the northern part of the state, so the name was changed. A lot of local people still refer to it as Middlebury. It is just south of Clay City at the junction of SR59 and Sr246. It no longer has a post office. ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- From: bass103@juno.com Reply-To: INCLAY-L@rootsweb.com Date: Mon, 27 Mar 2000 22:34:31 -0500 >middlebury was either near donaldsonville or closer to mount meridian >On Mon, 27 Mar 2000 21:16:43 -0500 "William Strahle" ><photobuff@argphotoshop.com> writes: >>I have record of a Dr Joshua J Phipps practicing medicine in >>Middlebury in the 1880s.
