My gg grandfather, James Dickson and his wife, Ellen Pryde Dickson, lived in Clay County, IN and are in the 1870 census. In 1880 they were in LaSalle, Illinois census. James Dickson was a coal miner and came to Clay Co. from Pennsylvania. He and his wife were both born in Scotland as was their daughter, Elizabeth, my greatgrandmother. A son, Oliver, was born in Pennsylvania, their daughter, Jessie was born in Indiana and another daughter, Margaret was born in Illinois.
