For people searching Owen County relatives, especially those who lived near the Clay County line, don't overlook the Owen County DAR's volume of all the legible gravestone inscriptions in the county. If a surname looks German, there is the possibility it is of Swiss Amish/Mennonite origin..there were people with those roots in the area of Owen/Clay border. Contact the Owen County Historical/Genealogical Society at Spencer and the Owen County Public Library, Spencer. This is not to preclude all those German Lutherans in the area also.
