Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/xh.2ADE/2052 Message Board Post: To all Payne family researchers. I've just finished reading all mssgs on this board on various Payne family members. I've been tracking the Payne family through Ky and southern Indiana for some time and want to offer the following: My Payne line moved from MD>PA>KY>IN with a brief reverse trip from KY to OH before returning to KY. All of this was prior to 1800. They then came into Indiana abt 1800 in Clark, Floyd, Harrison, and Owen Co.'s. I've been able to track three of four brothers who were sons of Samuel Payne of PA. Jonathan and Jeremiah Payne were each married in Shelby Co., Ky abt 1798 Jonathan Payne b. 1770 moved to Owen Co., In Jeremiah Payne b. 1769 moved to Washington Co., In Elias Payne b. 1776 also moved to Washington Co., In Samuel Payne b? unkn Elias, his wife and seven children were killed in the Pigeon Roost Massacre in 1812 Jeremiah raised a large family in Washington and Scott Co., In and died in 1861 Jonathan b. 1770 moved with one of his sons and daughters to Owen Co., In abt 1822. Jonathan died in Owen Co, In in 1845. Another son of Jonathan moved to Corydon, In in Harrison Co. and died at age 46 in Corydon. Of his seven children six were sons. One of the families in Harrison Co. and in Clay Co, In was named Zenor. The Zenor's were also in Shelby Co. Ky. I would be happy to compare notes with Payne family researchers.

    3. I have a William Kavaugh (sp?) Payne - born 17 may 1807 Shelby Co, KY, died 14 Mar 1883 Owen Co, IN (son of Jonathon Payne) - as married into one of my family branches. He was wed 2 Nov 1826 Owen Co, IN to Amma Beem. They had 1 son and 7 daughters. Amma was the sister of my gr-gr-gr-grandfather. This sounds like a match for your Jonathon Payne family. I do have additional info on William and Amma's descendents. barbara ----- Original Message ----- From: <mmikedean1@aol.com> To: <INCLAY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, April 21, 2005 5:33 PM Subject: [INCLAY] Payne family of Clay Co., In > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/xh.2ADE/2052 > > Message Board Post: > > To all Payne family researchers.
