    3. Well, we finally made a trip to Brazil last Tuesday, but didn't get to my grandmother's house. We DID make it to the genealogy room at the Clay County Library and found some additional information on Savannah Atkinson. According to the records that we found, she was listed as both Susanna, Savanah and Savanna. They list her parents as John Atkinson and Mary J. Welkey. She married Edward Frederick Peter Carl Mitscher on May 7, 1893. We believe that we found a death record of her father John Atkinson on July 28, 1903 at the age of 59 in Brazil, meaning that he was born in either 1843 or 1844. We did find a record of a John Atkinson in the Encyclopedic Directory of Clay County, Indiana, which says that John was a miner, owned his home, was born in 1843 in England and moved to Clay County in 1886.
