Pat, That's my Daniel DRAKE. I didn't mention the first marriage because none of the children from that marriage went to Clay County (as far as I know). Do you have a tie in with anyone in his descendant line? I have a lot of questions and also information to share. Karla, The 1900 census has Joseph and Lucinda in Lewis Twp, Clay Cnty, Roll T623-363, Pg 1b, ED 13: Drake, Joseph Hd Oct 1862 37 Md 10 IN OH Unk Lucinda A Wife Mar 1875 25 Md 10 0 chil IN IN IN Also of note, the WPA marriage index shows: Joseph Drake to Eva Billings Mar 28, 1882 Clay 5, 4? Joseph Drake to Lucinda A Bemis Jul 18, 1889 Clay 7, 32 AND Joseph Drake to Lucinda Bemis Mar 29, 1895 Sullivan 10, 515 I can't find them in the 1910 census There is a marriage of Lillie Drake to C D Trueblood Jan 4, 1900 in Sullivan Cnty; 11; 365 I checked them in the 1900 census and the age doesn't fit There is also a Lilly B Drake, 19, to David Everly Fe 7, 1884; Sullivan 8,50 but it shows her father as David though the age fits. To answer your question about marriage applications; and I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, Indiana did not require the application until 1880 or 1882. The requirement was not well complied with until late 1890s and early 1900s so parental information is very sketchy until then. Hope this helps, Sharon (McCoskey) Collins Turner
Karla: i don't have any descendants, but do have his siblings and father. My step-sons are descended from Daniel's brother Abraham.
