Posted on: Clay County, In Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/In/Clay?read=992 Surname: Rule, Ruelle, Rutter ------------------------- The only surnames I see in Posey Township close to Rucker are Rule and Ruelle and Rutter. they are mainly burried in Rhule/Rule, Clearview , or Cloverdale/Carpenter cemeteries all three cemeteries are listed in Posey Township Clay Co Indiana. There was a full listing of several years ago in the Brazil Public Library but the list would be really old, as it was several years ago, when I first saw it. The library is located on N Walnut Street in Brazil Indiana I think.

I will be visiting Clay Co sometime in August. Do I need to contact the courthouse to view their records? Is there a good genealogy library there? What are the hours for these places and the addresses? Also since one of the people I am looking for info on may have had some problems mentally....was there a hospital nearby in the 1860's-1870's for someone who may not have been able to care for herself? Would the court have records for her if the children had to declare her incompetant? Are these available to the public at the courthouse? I am looking for a family who lived in Harrison twp. Are there any transcribed cemetery records? Any suggestions on where to visit? I will have about a day's time there. Thanks, Selma
