    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/xh.2ADE/2016.1 Message Board Post: Here is page 386: Isaac Miller - The part of Indiana in which Clay county is included has been developed by some of the most active and enterprising men of this enterprising coutnry and age, and, no portion of it has responded more readily to the persuasions of axe and plowshare than Harrison township. Numbered among the earnest workers that have ably assisted in transorming the original wilderness into a rich and fertile agricultural region is Isaac Miller, who has succeeded to the ownership of the homestead which his father, Christian Miller, redeemed from the forest. He was born November 2, 1838 in Lehigh county, Pennsylvania, coming from honored patriotic stock, his great-grandfather on the paternal side having as a Revolutionary soldier fought at the battle of Bunker Hill on June 17, 1775. Jacob Miller, granfather of Isaac, was born in Carroll County, Pennsylvania and spent his entire life in his native state, being employed as a tiller of the soil. His wife survived him and died at ! the home of her son in law in Summit county, Ohio aged ninety two years. Born and reared in Lehigh county, Pennsylvania, Christian Miller resided there until 1843. In that year, joining a colony of fifty people, all....then goes to page 387. There's a little more on page 388. On April 20, 1866, Mr. Miller married Mary S. Cuning who was born in Maryland December 15, 1839 but was reared in Darke county, Ohio where her mother settled after the death of her husband. Mr. and Mrs. Miller are the parents of two children namely: John A. and Martha D. John A married Melvina Bowman and to them five children have been born one of whom, Clarence died at the age of nine years and four are living, Harry, Raymond, Marie and Clara. Martha D., wife of John P. Backfisch has three children, Edna M., Frederick and Floyd. Mrs. Miller is a consistent member of the German Baptist Brethren Church. Hope this helps Norma

    1. Clay Co., IN to Morgan Co., IL
    2. I've noticed many moves to Morgan Co., IL from Clay Co., IN, including families named Long, Sharp, Linville, Sturgeon, Kirkman among others. What was the lure of Morgan County? Does Clay County Genealogical Society have any letters from any family extolling Morgan Co., IL? Many, many of the moves occurred 1840-1860. Anyone have any ideas? Frank Sellers

    3. I do not have any specific information on Thomas for you. Just wanted you to consider the possibility of the spelling of Fyfe. I know that some Fyfe's came from Scotland to Clay County. One, a Mary Fyfe married Hiram Grant Petty. I am not descended from them, but through Hiram's sister - Laura Ellen. Mary's parents were Robert Muir Fyfe and Christina Denn, both of Scotland.
