Hi List: While cleaning out my genealogy files, I discovered a booklet by The Hoosier Heritage Press, 1971, The Encyclopedic Directory of Clay County, Indiana. This booklet gives "A List of the Householders of the County, Their Post-office Address, Occupation, Location, School District, Section Number, Township, Politics, Religion, Assessed Value of Real Estate, Nationality, Where Born, When Born, When (they) Came to Clay County." If anyone is interested if their surnames might be listed, please email me privately at Hoosier723@aol.com. This book also contains maps and photographs of some of the citizens of Clay County. Sherri

I'm trying to locate a Thomas CRAIG in 1860. Does anyone have access to the Indiana 1860 census index that would be willing to look up all of the Thomas Craig's on it and send me the info for them? I would truly appreciate it. Thank you in advance. Becky
Does anyone have more info on Isaac and Lucinda (Luther) Thomas who had a son Louis b. 6 Mar 1862, d. 18 Nov 1945, m. 11 Sept 1884 to Sarada Saulsberry and a daughter Telitha b. 19 July 1860, d. 22 Dec 1943, m. 12 Jan 1882 to William Jacob Saulsberry. Thanks for any help. Lynn Venafro
Those families out of Randolph County just keep complicating my life! I think the only way to find new facts is to do exactly as you are doing, keep the queries before the public. Other than the facts I sent earlier, I have nothing else on Bill Staley's wife! I will keep my eyes open for your family anyway. I have a Lawson family that after 30 years, a gentleman in Tennessee answered my query to tell me he has a land survey that shows Amos Lawson along with his brothers that ties Drury/Drewry Lawson to my gg grandfather. Mary
hi, Interesting how our paths keep crossing, isn't it? I wasn't really planning to track the Saulsberry family unless someone sent me a GEDCOM already searched out, but I just wondered about that discrepancy between William Jacob (b 1858) and the marriage date of the parents. Was he actually the child of someone else, are one or both dates wrong or ....? If you can add information to what I had gotten from Marchia years ago, would be happy to add to my collection of Luther descendants. I have been trying to be as thorough as I can for descendants of Christian and Jacob, came out to Indiana, sometimes hard to figure out who later descendats are.
Lou, William Nelson Staley was married to Sarah Ann Solsberry, September 11, 1884 in Clay County. Bill is buried near the Solsberry's in Cole Cemetery. He was the brother of my gr grandmother Sarah Jane Staley Orman I don't know which of his children might have been his. Do you need other information about him? I don't have much. Mary

George Washington SAULSBERRY was born in 1832 in Ohio.1 He appeared on the census in 1870 in Clay County, Indiana.2,3 They are listed in Harrison Township, p. 55. George is age 33, born Ohio, and has real-estate worth $800. Diana was 25 born IN, and children William J. age 10 and Rhoda Ann age 1. He appeared on the census in 1880 in Clay County, Indiana. LUTHER was born in 1843 in Clay County, Indiana.4 Most of this information came from Marcia Strait, 1325 East Third South, Salt Lake City, Utah, about 1975. She said that most of the information was gathered by her mother, Beulah Bays. Marcia's grandmother was Myrtle Saulsberry, daughter of William Jacob Saulsberry. Myrtle was still living and furnished information for this family when Beulah started her genealogy. George Washington SAULSBERRY and Diana Alameda J. LUTHER had the following children: +2 i. William Jacob SAULSBERRY. +3 ii. Sarada SAULSBERRY. +4 iii. Mary SAULSBERRY. 5 iv. David SAULSBERRY was born in 1874 in Clay City, Clay County, Indiana.5 +6 v. Peter SAULSBERRY. SECOND GENERATION 2. He was married to Telitha THOMAS (daughter of Isaac THOMAS and Lucinda LUTHER) on 12 Jan 1882. Telitha THOMAS was born on 19 Jul 1860 in Greene County, Indiana. She died on 22 Dec 1943. 3. Sarada SAULSBERRY was born in 1866 in Clay City, Clay County, Indiana. She must have been recorded as Rhoda Ann age 1 in 1870. She died in 1944. She was married to William A STALEY on 11 Sep 1884. William A STALEY was born in 1863. She was married to Louis THOMAS (son of Isaac THOMAS and Lucinda LUTHER) on 23 Nov 1886. Louis THOMAS was born on 6 Mar 1862 in Clay County, Indiana. He died on 18 Nov 1945. 4. Mary SAULSBERRY was born in 1872 in Clay City, Clay County, Indiana.5 She was married to George EZRA on 4 Jun 1889. George EZRA was born about 1868. 6.
