    3. Having just joined INCLAY yesterday, I'm already interested! My family is the McBride family. William McBride & wf Deborah came to Clay Co in 1826. In William's will, the witnesses are Martin Bowles and Brook Modesitt. I noticed Charles Coles 2nd wife was Mary McBride, where is that from, was McBride her maiden name, married name? 3. How I would like to come to Indiana and wander thru court houses and cemeteries. But, alas, I live in Lakeland, Florida and have four small children. For the time being, I'm here to find what I can on the computer. I've made a lot of progress on these families this year, with a lot of online help. I'm throwing these names out in case someone knows of these families, or would be willing to take some tombstone pictures for me. Laura Belle Thompson's parents were David Marion Thompson and Mariah Akers (Abraham and Catherine Aker's dtr). I come from William McBride - John McBride - David McBride - Avery McBride - Robert McBride. 2. Lori, Yes that is the one. Thank you so much! I believe it is just a very small cemetery and every one in there is related to my Mom. I will talk to you later. I am in the process of shutting down this PC. We are leaving for Terre Haute. Mary

    2. Mary, I did a search of Hendricks County Cemeteries, and I found a Henry and Martha Hendrix buried at Groover Cemetery. both died in 1855. Groover is about halfway between Lizton and Jamestown. It is very near I-74, just north of hiway 136. Does that sound familiar? There is also a Martha S Hendrix who died in 1841 buried there. If you like, I will try to find it this weekend and see if the stones are still there. Lori

    2. Hi Lori, I have a cemetery in Hendricks County that I would like to have pictures of the stones, but I don't know how to find it. Henry Hendrix and his wife Martha Day Hendrix are buried somewhere up close to I-74. I know there are stones, my mother said that they were covered with moss when she saw them maybe 20 years ago. I wondered if I had already sent you the Strom material, but I knew Bill Strahle did not get it from me. I may find more on my CD's but I just don't find time to do the things I need to do, or want to do! Mary

    2. Mary, Thank you very much for thinking about me. I really appreciate it. I am glad to see another name besides "Phipps" right now.(grin) I have been chasing them for a long time, decided to let them rest. Moses Phipps has me stumped. So, I am glad for some fresh information about somebody besides the Phipps. *l* I also am searching for Goodwin's and have discovered some people on the Goodwin side buried 5 minutes from where I live in Hendricks Co. Can tromp a cemetery close to home. Nice change from the suburbs of Coalmont. ha Thanks for passing on the info. Lori

    3. Hi Lori, Sorry about the tardiness of the info you ask for, but there's been a lot going on around here these days. I just didn't take the time to get back to you. I'm terrible sorry. Here's what I have. Phipps buried at Sanders Cemetery are Charles, Daisy, David, Donald E., E., Elizabeth, F. ?, Frank B., Wm. and Wm. H. Sorry, there's no Moses in the cemetery records. That's no sign there wasn't. Lots of tombstones and records missing. I've been up there. Much empty space in the middle of grounds indicating graves are probably there. Just no markers now. Hope this is helpful. Doris Louise Lori, this came back. Something about my server and AOL. Have to call NCCI Monday to see what's up. However, I write to Becky frequently, and always get through. I don't like answering online, but it's a way to get your answer to you. DLN

    3. At the 1947 Carpenter reunion in Brazil/Cloverland in late July, recognition was given to Donald Modesitt, Lt, USMC (died in service). He apparently died during the preceding year, not during the war. Also Mrs. Bernard Modesitt died during the previous year. These must be in-laws I know nothing of. Does anyone know how they are connected to the Carpenters?

    2. I too have a photo I'd like to share - on the back of this old photo my mother wrote "Jo and Wendall Kibbler" (their parents are our cousins). I really don't know how yet and I looked up on the SSDI and Wendall was born between 1900-1910 so the photo had to have been taken about 1915. The little girl has long dark ringlet curls - they're both darling looking children. If ANYONE is down this line and can clue me in as to the relationship I'd be happy to GIVE them the photo. Thank you - Jan Baldwin in OKC

    2. Dear Brenda, Even though none of the photos you mentioned have any relation to my family, I just wanted to say I think it is wonderful that you are so willing to share. One of the joys of searching through this family history has been to find or share photos to put names with faces. I don't have many, but the ones other "cousins" have shared are wonderful. I like to walk through antique shops and it drives me crazy to see an old photo album that isn't labeled with names, and wonder if that might be a relative! I just wanted to say it is great to see another person who is so willing to share! Sharon Tharp(Tharp7837@aol.com)

    2. Bill, If you will look in the Furry file at ccgs, I think you might find the papers I put in there. I don't remember exactly what I put in that file but I had done some research in Clay/Owen as well as over in Ohio. Jacob Furry's Bible used to belong to me. It gave the dates of death for Jacob's parents and Jacob's family. When Grandpa Orman died, my Aunt sent me the Bible which I have now given to the oldest granddaughter of Sophia Furry Orman Orman, Helen Staley Fleener of Franklin, Indiana. In that old Redbush Cemetery, you can find Jacob and his parents plus several others including Peter Ferry! Mary
