    2. Marquis and Louise Young were living around the Cory Indiana area during the 1860's. Believe all of their children were born in the same area. Sorry but I don't have years of birth on the parents. All of their children were born I believe between 1860-1870. Thanks for your help! Cathy Tennessee

    3. not related but will try to look unless you also connect to Emma Steiner who married twice first to H J Carman and second to W L MIller... I know a young family in Unionville Indianan in Monroe county Otis and Isabell were there names -- they are both deceased but had a large family... your best bet for these would be Morgan or Monroe counties.. give us a first name and about age and will try to hunt something for you.. (pp.40-4l)...The Census of Indiana Territory for l807 was published by the Indiana Historical Society (l980). It is a facsimile of the original manuscripts of Knox, Dearborn, and Randolph counties. The original for Clark County has not been found and in its place the Society used an l807 voters list. They also added a poll list of Kaskaskia (Randolph County). The Indiana Constitution of l85l stipulated that an enumeration be made every six years of all the white male inhabitants over the age of twenty-one years. This requirement was first carried out in l853 with each township assessor collecting the names of white male inhabitants and filing the list with the county auditor. In l865 the procedure was modified to include the age of each white male and in l877 the law was amended to include a separate list of negro males over the age of twenty-one years. The revised edition of Ancestry's Red Book, after citing the l807 territorial census, says "No other state census exist, although state enumerations of males (without names) above age twenty-one were taken at various intervals beginning in l820". This may be true for some counties, but the l853 census for Hendricks and Jennings counties, available at the FHL, clearly lists the names of every white male over twenty-one. These state censuses are not complete for every county and except for Hendricks and Jennings counties in l853, they are not available at the FHL. Some original censuses are located at: Indiana State Library l40 North Senate Avenue Indianapolis, Indiana 46204 The State Library has the following censuses: l857 - Hartford City, Blackford County l87l - Scattered townships, Blackford County l877 - Scattered townships, Blackford County, 5 townships of Fayette County l883 - Scattered townships, Blackford County l889 - Scattered townships, Blackford County l90l - Jackson township, Washington County l9l3 - Henry County l9l9 - Jackson township, Ripley County l93l - Henry County A series was produced in l940 by the Indiana Historical Records Survey called the INVENTORY OF THE COUNTY ARCHIVES OF INDIANA. Each county was given a volume, though not all counties were completed. This is probably the best source for determining which state censuses still exist for your county of interest. I'm not sure if this is what you were looking for, but hope it helps. 3. Does anyone know who or what The Davidson County Rangers were. Does anyone know who and what Lieut Walkers Rangers were. Both are shown as for The territory South of The Ohio, so Iassume they were a band of Peace keepers or Indian Fighters due the time period. I am seeking information on a George NUTTERFIELD who signed on as a private in 1792. Where were they formed? Where did they recruit. I do know that George settled in Shelby Co, Ky as early as 1790. I am seeking any information. George is shown on FTM records as Revolutionary War 1780-1789, but, the only record I have, so far is with the 2 above units. I asume that the Davidson County referred is Davidson County Tn, as I dont know of another at that time. Or, it could have been the home of Lt Walker. I have tried Ky archives and Nashville archives, But, my experience is very Limited on records like these, so I probably didnt do it right.I have been seeking info on George for about 30 years, so, naturally, I would be thrilled and appreciative for any info.George is also shown as George NUTTERFEE/NUTTER, on various records, and married Nancy Stepp McWilliams June 1804 in Shelby Co Ky. Ellettsville CITIZEN: G. Tom Green arrived last Friday bring five bright children from the Cincinnati orphans' home. He readily found homes for those brought and promised to bring another party from his very large family of children in a few weeks. GEORGE ADKIN took a nine-year-old boy; G. B. MOORE a four-year-old girl named Pearl Moore; F. E. WORLEY a nine-year-old boy; WILLIAM KING, two-year-old girl; and D. S. JOHNSON a six-year-old boy. The latter children are German and are bother and sister. It is our opinion that God will bless anyone who properly cares for an orphan child. ==== INMONROE Mailing List ==== Monroe County references books and lookup volunteers can be accessed at <http://www.rootsweb.com/~inmonroe/monroelu.html>. --part1_16.166f8732.25acb741_boundary--

    1. Re: State Census
    2. My local library has a book that lists what states had state censuses taken. I don't know what the book is called, but I wouldn't be surprised if many other libraries have it also. Valerie
