I also have two Moore lines in Clay Co. The first is Zachariah MOORE b. about 1825 in Kentucky. I THINK he is the son of Thomas and Elizabeth of Jackson twp. Mainly because in the 1860 he is living next to them and the land he leaves in his will dated 1862 and proved in 1863 is part of the land Thomas pattened in 1838. Also in 1850 the neighbors of Thomas Moore are the Gibben family. They raised Mrs Rhoda (Rhody) GIBBENS orphan sister Hannah Jane ANTRIM. We know that "Jane" and Zach married in 1850 from her obit and the 1850 census. The second is that of Isaac M. MOORE originally of Ohio. Apparently he is not the only gentleman of that name to have lived in Clay co. The man in the 1850 census has a different wife. My Issac had married Jaculine (Adeline) ALBERT in 1835. They are in Posey twp before the 1860 census. But where they where between 1835 and 1860 hasn't been proved yet. If any of this sounds familiar let me know. Terri

After the original marriage records were destroyed in the courthouse fire on November 30,1851,Clay County marriages prior to that time were re-recorded by affidavit. Hi again Janice, I was so excited a while ago to find William Muncey and his wife Lucy and their kids, I forgot to look for Moores. Looking back I only have one John C Moore. I have him because he married a Jane Muncy. They had a son named John Moore but they weren't in the right place at the right time. I don't have a lot of dates on this family but Jane Muncy was born in Kentucky in 1794 and they were married about 1815. Sorry I wasn't able to help you. Harold Wayne Green, Indianapolis, IN
Hi again Janice, I was so excited a while ago to find William Muncey and his wife Lucy and their kids, I forgot to look for Moores. Harold Wayne Green, Indianapolis, IN
Thanks to Janice for posting the page of Fulton County, IL census!!!! What caught my eye was the name of William MUNCEY. I waited until this evening when I had time to search my FTM database and found one William Muncy, born in Kentucky, January 02, 1833 that came to Clay County Indiana and married Lucy Bullock, also born in 1833, but in North Carolina. I believe them to both be 37 years old, not 34 and 37. I think this is probably the same William and Lucy, I heard they had went to Illinois but I hadn't found them yet. (These people spelled their names Munsey, Muncey, Muncy, Muncie and some other ways.) This William Muncey was a brother to my gr grandfather, John Engle Muncy/Muncie. This gives me the names of 7 more cousins. My mother was a Clay County Muncie and this William Muncey would have been a gr uncle to her. Thanks again, Harold Wayne Green, Indianapolis
Hi, There is a John MOORE b c 1817 PA in the following 1880 MO census. This is the one and only time I have reference to John H. MOOREs father (or ANY family for that matter). He seems to "fit" with your John MOORE. There seems to be several errors in this census. Young Sarah and James W. were both, from what I've found so far, born in IL not IN and notice the spelling of MOORE...ahhh, the fun of the Federal Census : ) #71, 1880 Missouri, Johnson Co, Chilhowee, sheet 27 line 23 MOOR, John H. head w m 43 KY KY KY " , Amos son w m 15 IN KY IN " , Sarah E. dau w f 11 IL KY IN " , Jas W. son w m 8 IL KY IN " , John father w m 67 KY PA ( ) " , Sarah mil w f 54 KY PA ( ) I am waiting on some court records regarding, hopefully, my John H. MOORE in IL. I will pass on any info I might find there. Regarding William R. MOORE, the dates from the 1850 IN Clay Co census do not *exactly* match with the William R. MOORE found in the 1870 IL Fulton Co census. I did receive some helpful info from a wonderful woman just yesterday on the William R. MOORE in IN: << From _Cemetery Inscriptions of Fulton Co., IL_ v. 10 p15 burials in Marietta Cemetery, Harris twp., sec 16 SE 1/4 These are all the MOOREs in that cemetery. I know that only Wm. R. & Drusilla relate to the 1870 census but perhaps the others will tie in eventually. Or provide more clues. MOORE, Drusilla; w/o Wm. d. Dec 9, 1874; aged 74y " . Franklin Clyde; b. 1887 d. I have learned more about my MOORE line in the week then I have in the last 7 years! Janice : )
Janice ; I'm not sure at this point of my lines connection. I have a John Moore b. abt 1817 Ky marr. to Susan Roberts b. 1825 Ky. in 1842 in Clay Co. Living in 1850 Riley Twp. VVigo Co. The John Moore in William Moore's family in 1853 showed to have no wife, so I suspect he's not my direct line. My guess at this time is Zebulon's son may be more likely my connection. But there are two or three other Moore families living in the area. There a Samuel Moore who died in 1827 Vigo Co., with a son John, David Alexander and Samuel. I have a lot of deed information, which makes the lines in Vigo and Clay Co. less confusing, but still not definitive. I think the John shown in 1880 census Mo. is William Moore's (died 1837 Clay from Pa.) son, since it showed his father was from Pa. I also have some confusing data on William R. Moore. Any information you have on James Moore in Johnson Co. Dates and places, if you could send me the information it may help me. My John Moore moved near that county around 1860.
