    3. The Mosteller that I'm looking for is Myrtle Mosteller, from Carbon, Clay Co., Indiana. She married Arthur Smith. They had several children including Rose Emma Smith (living), and I believe a Daniel, but I have no confirmation on that. Rose Emma Smith married John Merle Smith and lived in Brazil, Clay Co., Indiana. Thanks for any help. Brian BTW, which branch of the Latta genealogy are you researching? My wife is from Branch 22. ----- Original Message ----- From: Dale White <dwhite@jdv.net> To: <INCLAY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, May 07, 2000 11:55 AM Subject: Re: Savannah Atkinson > Hi! 3. My Mosteller family came from Clay Co., Posey Twnsp, children moved to Vigo, Parke, etc. They came from Lincoln, NC and before that Pennsylvania, coming to America as the Marsteller family from Germany. There are several children of Michael Marsteller/Mosteller that moved to the Clay/Vigo area. My line deals with the descendants of Joseph Mosteller b. 1797 d. 1887 Clay Co., IN, Posey Twnsp, buried in Carpenter's cemetery.& wife Jemima Wright Mosteller b. 1814 d. 1888 also buried in Carpenter's cemetery. my grandmother was their great, great grandchild. Our line goes to Johan Peter Marsteller who came from Germany. He had other brothers who stayed in the Pennsylvania area and their ancestors migrated to Ohio. We have one branch or two that also moved to Ohio, Michael, Jr., and Peter. However, these lines have not gotten the attention that the Indiana Mosteller line have, so I am void of information on the later years. Sorry that I can't connect to yours. 3. I don't know if you are awrare of Sink Cemetery in Clay Co, just south of Clay City, IN, but I just read the entire cemetery and took pictures of each stone for the CCGS. I am in the process of organizing and typing it up for print. The Society will have the pictures for sale as well as the cemetery book in the near future. There are several Schmaltz in that cemetery. If you are tracing that line also, you would definitely want to purchase this book from them. This cemetery is not far from the Owen County line. If you contact the Society they can tell you if they have any or your McKelvey or Rentchler lines listed in their information. They do research for people there also. > I am looking for information on the family of Dr. Samuel R. McKELVEY born > April 1861 in Indiana, son of John McKelvey. 3. No, I do not have a Spear that married a McBride. My McBrides are limited to Clay Co., IN.(descendants went elsewhere) I have not done much on other county McBrides, with the exception of Edgar Co., Illinois McBrides. There were McBrides in Spencer, IN, Washington, IN (Greene Co.), & Vigo as well as Parke Co., IN, (however these are part of the Clay Co., IN McBrides). What McBride family are you referring to. I might help if I had more information unless it is Alfred McBride and I do not have a thing on his line. 2. I am looking for information on the family of Dr. Samuel R. McKELVEY born April 1861 in Indiana, son of John McKelvey. I am particularly interested in where and when Samuel died, where he is buried, and what happened to his children. On 22 Nov 1884 when Samuel R. was 23, he married Mary Ann RENTSCHLER, daughter of Michael RENTSCHLER Sr. (1 Apr 1819-1893) & Elizabeth Catherine SCHMALTZ (10 Nov 1825-1875), in Owen Co., Indiana. Mary Ann was born in 1865 in Owen Co., Indiana and died in Marion Twp., Owen Co., Indiana on 19 May 1891, when she was 26. She is buried in Liechty Cem., Clay City, Clay Co., Indiana. Dr. Samuel and Mary Ann McKelvey had the following children: i. Florence (1886-) ii. Troy (1888-) From the 1900 Indiana Census, Owen Co., Marion Twp., ED 115, SH 1 McKelvey, Samuel R. 3. Hi Heather, By transcribing I mean to type the data from the pages I have on-line that are images, once I have the data as text I can put it on-line in HTML format as well as having the image of the page available, the images are very large files and take a long time to load in the web browser, the HTML files are much smaller and easier to read for the visitor. If you are interested in transcribing any of these pages let me know and I will help you get started. 3. I got around to putting the codes on-line, you can connect directly to the "KEY TO CIPHER" web page at this address; http://www.rootsweb.com/~inclay/enc-dir/codes.htm Or from the main Encyclopedic Directory web page at; http://www.rootsweb.com/~inclay/enc-dir/ I also have Valerie's transcription of page 25 on-line now. There are still 39 thru 46 in need of transcribing so if you can help just let me know. 3. Well, after having a busy end of the week I managed to get this district on-line at the InGenWeb site; http://www.rootsweb.com/~inclay/census/1900/clay.htm My wife doesn't like "shiny" new things, she only likes dull , slow and old things, guess that is why she has kept me around here for almost 30 years huh ;-). Of course this deal did cost me my scanner and digital camera so I will have to sneak around to use those things when she isn't looking ;-) Thanks to Becky for all her hard work on this, she is closing on completing this 1900 census now.
