He is listed as 50 and she as 49. Also listed is a son, Harry, who was 14 at the time. You'll find them in the Clay County, Brazil Township, Brazil City, Enumeration District 25, Sheet #15-B, Ward 2, family #95. They lived on West National Ave. Hope this helps.

Emma Thompson writes articles about Genealogy and History which are published once a week. I certainly hope they put her articles on line. Mary

There is a web site at http://165.138.44.12/ and nother at http://www.vigo.lib.in.us/vigo/obits/index1.htm where you can look up to see if the individual is in their index, and a form at http://www.vigo.lib.in.us/vigo/obits/obitform.htm to order them. Their on-line obit index only goes back to about 1900, but copies were only $1 each.

The Samuel I was looking for more than likely is a descendant of Joseph Crosby. Joseph would be the brother of William, both sons of John and Nancy Peters Crosby. After Jacob married Eleanor Osborn, they moved to Putnam Co and are the ancestors of most of the Crosbys in Putnam Co.

(Most likely between 1800 and 1818) immigrated to the US. The census data indicates that my GGF's father was from MD on the 1890 census and Ireland on the 1900 so there is a conflict there. Since I have yet to give a name to his father and mother (who is from PA on both census') I am at a loss. I have requested GGF's Civil war records and pension application from the Natl. Archive and am awaiting their arrival. If there is anything there of use to you I will notify you.

I am related to Ezra TROUT by two of his wives. Perhaps Clarence is a relative of Ezra? Since both lived in Clay County area. J. I am also researching the surname TROUT from Indiana and Iowa. Ezra Trout married twice, both wives were my family, HOWARD, and WARE. Are these the same TROUT family you are researching? J.
