I am researching Gabriel Lawson. He was born in 1835 in Claiborne Co., TN. Later he lived in Monroe and Brown County, IN. He lived in Martz, Clay City, and Coal City after 1900. He died in a State Hospital and was returned to Clay City for burial. He was a Civil War Veteran and is buried in the Greenwell Cemetery, Harrison Twp., Clay Co., IN. My gr. grandmother was Nancy Catherine Lawson Michael and his sister. I want to obtain a marker from the VA and mark his grave. Does anyone know who I should contact to place a marker in the Greenwell Cemetery after I get the stone? Mary Gardner
HI Doris, It has been ages since I last saw you. I was concerned that you might be ill. This is such a great site and I think it would be nice if some of us posted our interests! Me, especially! Mary Gardner
Hi Mary, Yes, I'm still here reading all Clay County queries. I've heard of Puckett Cemetery, but not sure where it is or was. There are Pucketts in Sanders, Old Union, Peavey cemeteries and others. It could be the name has been changed. I wonder who they are looking for? That would help. Doris Louise, Lewis Twp., Clay Co., IN
