I sent this yesterday, but it has not shown up on the list, so I don't know what happened to it. So I'm now updating and resending it. The following message came through on a library listserv I belong to Thursday morning. Not good for genealogists who want to do work on Saturdays. Please forward to other lists you may be on so that people will be aware and not show up to do research and find the library closed. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Due to the impact of staffing restrictions and reductions, the Indiana State Library will curtail evening and Saturday hours until staffing is restored to an appropriate level. The security of patrons, staff, and collections are a major concern. The curtailing of hours is effective Saturday, March 1, 2003, changing our hours back to Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.-- Martha Roblee Associate Director, Library Development Indiana State Library 800-451-6028 or 317-232-3697 fax 317-232-0002
Tilghman (Tilman) Chance can also be found in Owen County records.
Hi Jim, Thanks for Sharon's e-mail address, I wrote her a short note but since you are a Harris family member I thought I would also ask you some family questions. The Harris family is not my line, but due to a connection to the Mullinix family, Mrs. Irene Scott of Ok & I have gotten together. She is down the David Harris family line Born in TN and then moved to Putnam Co., His father was Evan Harris b. 1786 in VA? wife Rebecca Moreland b. VA? Evan died in Illinois at his son John's house in 1856. She would like to find the father and mother of Evan Harris which has been a brick wall for a very good researcher from the looks of her family sheets. Also we are looking for more information on David's brothers Noah b. 1825/26 and William Riley b. 1818/1819 both born in Hawkins Co. TN. I have found his sister Elizabeth in MO and are waiting for her husband's will to find out if they had children. Mrs. Scott is 73 years old and will not be making as many trips back to Indiana like she use to so I am trying to find information on the Harris family for her. Any help with this family would be appreciated. Thank you, Eileen
In the Clearview Cemetery there is a William Chance b. 1861

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/xh.2ADE/1682 Message Board Post: Just some things I gleaned today at the FHL in Salt Lake: Abstract of record from LDS FHL INTL Film #1189092, Kirchenbuch, 1640-1887: Georg Jacob Foernsel, son of Jacob Foernsel and his wife Maria Elisabetha Dieffenbacher, and his wife Charlotta Barbara Balz, daughter of Johannes Balz and his wife Agata Fegert of Michelbach, Wuerttemburg, present a baptismal certificate for their daughter Elisabetha b 22 Apr 1824, baptised 9 May 1824, in Michelbach. Daughter Elisabetha was born before the parents marriage which occured on 26 May 1824. George Jacob declares himself to be the father of Elisabetha so that she will receive his last name. One of the witnesses was Phillip Foernsel, a soldier in the Grand Army of the Duchy of Baden (was this his brother Philipp or an uncle?). From: Evangelische Kirche Eppingen (A. Eppingen) (Main Author), Kirchenbuch, 1640-1887, Karlsruhe: Evang. Landeskirchenamt Baden, 196?, LDS Family History Library, 35 N West Temple Street, Salt Lake City, UT 84150 USA, US CAN INTL Film #1189092: Birth of Philipp Foernsel, 2 Jun 1828 in Eppingen, Heidelberg, Baden to Georg Jacob Foernsel and Charlotta Barbara Balz. Sponsors for baptism were Philipp Kuhn and his wife Elisabetha and Phil., Foernsel. If this is the birth record for the same Philipp Foernsel b ca 1828 who settled in Clay County,Indiana, he would be the nephew of Eva Foernsel who married to Conrad Sinder (Suender) and settled in Owen County, Indiana. May of Conrad and Eva's children lived in Clay County, including my gg mother Elizabeth Sinders who married Levi Fogle. On the LDS IGI, there is also a Johannes Foernsel, b 30 Apr 1834, chr 08 May 1834 in Eppingen. He was the son of Jacob Foernsel and Charlotte Balz, a brother to the Phillip above. Is this the John Foernsel who married Louise Schuler in Clay County in 1866? I took a copy of these records off the microfilm, so if anyone wants a xerox let me know and I'll send it to you. I apologize if you receive this message twice. My computer glitched just as I sent it the first time.
yOU CAN FIND A LITTLE INFORMATION ON THAT cHANCE FAMILY ON MY DATABASE ON ROOTSWEB.COM, wORLD cONNECT. i don't know any more than I have posted. There are probably people on the list that know more about the family than I do, and I think they have some information at the Cly County library.
