Historical newspapers are available at the state library. Also contact the Fire Department, county and Police department for the area they would have records or historical data. Maybe even pictures? or, news clippings. Since there was a war going on the newspapers may have been set up again. Or, not operating. The history of the paper is very interesting which is available with the list of newspapers and the years of operation. They do inter library loans so you can view at your own library.
