    3. Hi Charolette, I am catching up on E-Mail that I have sent with no reply. I my mail has been so messed up since I started using bellsouth to send messages. I have written to you twice, and since I have not heard from you, my guess is that the mail did not go through, or you weren't interested in what I sent. I found some of the names in the book on MILLER'S & since alot of your names sound as if they came from Germany, I have a small booklet on the GERMANA where the 1st two groups came to Virginia in 1716 & 1718 to work off their shipping fares. This has alot of German names. I have been working on my Uncle's Family Tree, and this is where I found this information. If you are interested send me your address, and I will copy all of the names from the MILLER Book & GERMANA Booklet. This is probably the easiest since there are so many names, especially the Miller's. Then after I send them to you check the ones you want & I will send the information to you by snail mail. 1. [INCASS] Cass Co. History BIO Daniel Fogelsong-Remley-Borum?
    2. LBoorom
    3. Hi, I'm new to the list, but am hoping someone can help with my request. I had hoped to find this myself at the local library, but Hamilton Co. OH seems not to carry much on Cass Co. IN. I received an e-mail message some time ago that the History of Cass Co. In pg 765 lists a BIO on Daniel Fogelsong. The only quote I received is as follows: "Daniel Fogelsong was married in Harrison township this county to Sarah J. daughter of Daniel and Mary (Borum) Remley. She was born in Hamilton County, Ohio 20 April, 1821" (could possibly be 1825). I have found their marriage listed in Cass Co. Oct 9 1844. I understand that a genealogy of the Clary family (dau. Rebecca Remley married Isaac Newton Clary Dec 7 1843 Cass Co.) also gives Daniel's wife as Mary Borum. But, another genealogy "Pioneers All: Douglass Callaham Remley Dobbins Wilson Clary" by M.Thornsen, W.J. Armstrong, R.Armstrong lists Elizabeth Remley's parents as Daniel & Mary Cochran. Many years ago W. J. Armstrong left a 4 generation pedigree at the Warren Co. Genealogical Soc. showing this same information, apparently using the below sited Hamilton Co. marriage record (as I had) as his source. My question/brick was lies with Sarah's mother. Daniel Remley, son of Christian Remley (27 Feb 1768-2 Jan 1811) and Elizabeth Heck (25 Feb 1774- aft 1850) married Mary "Cochran" in Hamilton Co. OH 19 Oct. 1818. On 1 Jun. 1815 in Warren Co. Daniel's mother, the widow Ramley (sic) married Aaron Boram who was also a widower with several children. Aaron died in 1846, and in Aug. 1847 an attorney was hired to "prosecute a suit against other heirs at law of Aaron Boram deceased." A summons was issued to appear in Dec 1847 which among the names is listed Daniel & Mary Remley. As a step-son, Daniel was not an "heir at law". None of his siblings were named, not even his sister Mary who married Aaron's son Jonathan who was named in the will. The thought has frequently crossed my mind that Mary Borum and Mary Cochran are one and the same, she being a widow when she married Daniel. She then would have been another of Aaron Boram's daughter's and therefore an "heir at law" (all females were named with spouses if married). But, due to several courthouse fires, marriage records in Hamilton Co. OH prior to 1817 are virtually non-existent and I cannot prove this by that means. There were Cochran's in the area Aaron Boram lived, several that fought in the War of 1812 with his son Jesse, one or two who seem to have disappeared by the 1820 census, but I have been unable to find anything by that means. So, after making a short request long :-) if anyone has access to the above mentioned BIO that can transcribe or send me copy's (will pay costs) I would be most appreciative. Perhaps the full BIO might help. As well, if anyone has any further information on Daniel Remley and his descendants...... Will gladly share my research on the Boram/Booram & Remley/Ramley families of Hamilton & Warren Co. OH if anyone would like additional information on either. Thanks to all, Linda Boorom Hamilton Co., (Cincinnati) OH

    1. Re: [INCASS] Birth Records
    2. Debby Beheler
    3. I've put together a webpage <http://www.netusa1.net/~beheler/INrsrch.html> about researching in Indiana which covers availability of vital records in Indiana Counties. Most counties started birth and death records in 1882 with some larger municipal areas starting about 1875. The problem is that many doctors, midwives and undertakers didn't bother with registering these events, esp. if they were away from the county seat and it was the dead of winter. Cass County was real primitive in 1832, although there was a newspaper "the Cass County Times". I found that at: http://www.statelib.lib.in.us/WWW/INDIANA/NEWSPAPER/CASS.HTML Newspapers on microfilm may be interlibrary loaned through your local public library. That having been said, I would be very surprised if you found a birth announcement. Most of the content will not be local. Depending on when he died, an obituary might be one of your best bets. If there is a death record and the informant had the information that would be good, too. Church records and family Bible records are fairly reliable when you can locate them and would be considered a primary source if recorded at the time of the event. Good Luck!
