I found the name of the cemetery in an old letter dated April 26, 1851 where Elizabeth Walker Howard (husband Jonathan) wrote to her brothers in KY saying that "Our father has died (on the 23rd of April) while walking in the lane. I buried him with mother in Old Father Griffin Cemetery at the mouth of the Eel River. He died in peace". Have you ever heard of this cemetery? its location? Thanks for any info. Please email: shirleya@sbcglobal.net Thank you
We have an Eel Creek in Brown County in what was in Johnson Township, now Washington Township near the Lawrence, Monroe and Brown County lines but that would be quite a ways from Springville, Indiana. The cemeteries closes to Eel Creek in Brown County would be the Deckard Cemetery, the Axsom Cemetery (only known to have one grave that was later moved) and the Terrill/Terrell Cemetery. Jeanette Richart Chaos, panic, and disorder-my work here is done. The only difference between a rut and a grave is the depth. http://www.geocities.com/SouthBeach/Pointe/6262/ My fun web page ~ not genealogy ----- Original Message ----- From: <shirleya@sbcglobal.net> To: <INBROWN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, September 26, 2003 5:31 PM Subject: [INBR] Re: Griffin Family Cemetery > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Walker, Howard, Hancock > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Jh.2ADI/1172.1.1.1 > > Message Board Post: > > Hello, searching for Old Father Griffin Cemetery, Lawrence Co, near or at Springville, Indiana.
