This is quite interesting! Rhoda GRAY married John Walker POWELL. Rhoda was the sister of my g2-grandmother, Sarah Susan GRAY Shannon, and both couples ended up in southern MN. I had never seen a reference to any POWELL in Brown County before, nor had i been able to find out any info about the origins of JWP. John Walker Powell was a Methodist minister, who established many Methodist churches around southern MN. He is described as a "circuit rider" but when his horse died, he was a circuit walker for several years, anyway. Not surprising since that was his middle name! WALKER and POWELL are the surnames of two well-known Virginians who opened up Kentucky, so I have been wondering about the connection. Would love to find descendants of JW and Rhoda!
