In the 1870 census for Indiana, Brown county, Washington township, post office of Nashville, page 40, there was a family headed by Levi Knapp, 52, a wagon maker, born in Va, and included Sarah E, 42, keeping house, Va, Amanda, 11, Va, Sarah Walls, 7, Ind, and a female Marion, 6/12, Ind. In the 1880 census for Indiana, Brown county, ED 20, page 20B, there was a family headed by Levi Knapp, 61, carpenter, born in Va as were both parents, and included his wife Sarah E, 51, keeping house, born in Va as were both parents, his daughter Marion L, 10, Ind and his step daughter Sarah E Walls, 17, Ind. Evidently something must have happen to Susan. Hope this helps. Good luck. Don

Henry was a well-known stone carver for cemetery headstones or tombstones in Brown, Jackson and Batholomew counties, IN. I am a cemetery restorationist (specifically tombstones) and very interested in Henry and his life. We have a book written about him in 1966 by the Indiana Historical Society, but we're still seeking further information about Henry and his talent of beautiful tombstone art. Thank you.

In 1870 Caleb is in the household with son James Ellis Crane in Johnson County, IN. The mother of Caleb's sons was Elizabeth Ellis of Brown County, OH. I believe this Caleb is the son of Caleb and Abigail Pangburn Crane of the Brown County, OH area. I am interested in knowing more about Anne Kelley and what happened to her and her Crane children after the 1860 census. All help will be appreciated. Thanks.

There were a lot of families in Fairfield County, Ohio at this time, I counted over 200 found on a search on Ancestry.com census records for the 1850 census. In 1850 census in Greenfield twp. page 362B in Fairfield County, Ohio in family of Samuel & Susanna Shaffer is a Mathew A. age 9. In 1870 Union twp., page 294 in White county, Indiana is this same family of Samuel & Susanna Shaffer is Alexander age 31 with also a Jane age 35. Could this be your Alexander? Could this Jane also be his wife? If you think this is the wrong family I can do some more checking.
