Birth records in the state of Indiana were not required until 1882 and not enacted into law until about 1910. Are you sure of the birthdates and ages of this family? I found the family of Ransom Sturgeon in the 1880 census for Indiana, Brown county, Washington township, page 18, Post Office of Nashville. Ransom was 30 years old, a farmer, born in Indiana. Included in the family were Elizabeth, 29, keeping house, Tenn, - Franklin, 10, - Gillmore, 8, - Susan, 6, - Marion, 3, and Charles, 1/12. All children born in Indiana. Hope this helps. Don
