Brownstown is in Jackson county. For birth records write to the Health Dept in Jackson Co., IN. Birth records start in 1882. Sarah, Thank You for this information. I have been ordering marriage certificates from them. They charge me $2.00 per copy which is less than anywhere else that Ive ordered from. However I didnt know that you could get a copy of the original application. Some that I have gotten back have had birthplaces on them though. But none with the parents names yet.
