Dear list, I'm new to your list and need some help. here is what I have on Elmer Ellsworth Brockway. Born January 1865 in Boone County, Indiana. Then he disappears for 26 years from records until he marrys Lydia A. McCombs on 1 January 1891 in Boone County, Indiana. (Indiana Marriages 1845-1920.). I only found one Brockway family in Boone Co., IN in 1860 and 1870, with no Elmer. I checked the new 1880 census index from Family Search, when Elmer would have been 15, for IN, IL, OH and KY. No Elmer appears. For the 1900 Census the family of he, his wife, 3 children and a step=son are enumerated in Jackson Twp., Madison County Indiana. Page 340A. For the 1920 Census, the children have left and Elmer and Lydia are enumerated in Center Twp., Muncie, Delaware Co., IN. The next record I have is the death record of Lydia Brockway, 28 April 1928 at New Castle, Henry Co., IN. She was buried at South Mound Cemetery, New Castle, Henry Co., IN. Elmer survived her for 20 more years and died in 1948, somewhere in Indiana. His Death Certificate might give us who his parents were. KY Elmer was 35, Lydia was 38, Ernest was 7, Claude was 4, Edith was 2 and John P. McCombs was 16 1920 Census, Center Township, Muncie, Delaware County, Indiana, page 3A, image 5. Brockway, Elmer Head M W. 55, born IN, parents born IN , Lydia Wife F W, 58, born KY, father born IN, mother born OH The important info for me is that Elmer's parents were born in Indiana. P.S. Another Indiana marriage record has Elmer E. Brockway marrying Lydia A. McCombs. She evidently was married first to a McCombs as on the 1900 census there is a step-son, John P. McCombs enumerated with them. Can anyone help? Lydia Straughn married 1st to ? McCombs, and her parents were John M. Straughn and Anna Hisel. she married 2nd to Elmer Ellsworth Brockway. Were her parents living in Boone County, Indiana? I know nothing about her parents or Siblings. as for Elmer Ellsworth Brockway there was a George W. Brockway of Boone County, Indiana, not sure of his age or if related, but likely. Does anyone have earlier census records of George W. Brockway , or Lydia Straughn as a child, or her with her 1st husband ? McCombs?
