1984 History of Boone Co.,IN JOHN F. MILLER FAMILY John Freemont Miller born 4 May 1858 Harrison Co,IN. Came to Montgomery Co probably 1870s. Was living with a brother and a sister,.Peter and Jane Miller near New Ross. John was a school teacher and married Mary Jane Jones of Zionsville, a teacher also. She was the eldest dau of Jacob and Lucinda Archer Jones. They moved to Jackson Twp. in the Ward, Old Union neighborhood in the 1800's. There were five Miller children. Theoron was a farmer, later a mailcarrier out of Lebanon who married Olive Smith. Their ch were: Helen Louise(1916) (Mrs. Medford Childress) lived Indianapolis, Doris Rovene (1919) (Mrs. Keith A. Adams) of Indianapolis, Carl Eugene (1921) md Anna Louise Armstrong lived Boone Co , John Henry( 1923) md Martha Hawk d 1982 son James Lennard and dau Patricia Kay Sims. Ralph Jacobs md Marie Lydia Mcdonald leived Lebanon ,Rose Marie lived Fla Vernita Mable ( mother of Margaret Richardson who wrote article) first dau of John and Mary Miller. She md Ora L. Proffitt (story is in 1984 book) John and Mary had dau 1901 who died five mos later. Son, Cecil John b 1902 became the farmer-provider , along with Theron, when their father died in 1913. Cecil never married. Mary died 1926 and he and Lucile lived on the farm until she md in 1930. In 1930 family sold the farm to Heaths and Cecil moved to the 20 acres willed to him and Lucile by Uncle Peter and Aunt Jane Miller. Farm was east of New Ross just inside of Boone Co. line. Cecil died of heart attack and was found by his great-nephew, Tom Miller on sunday in 1970. Danae Lucile was youngest child of John F and Mary Miller b 1904.Was a teacher. Taught near Zionsville, then Jamestown. Md W. Wayne Young in 1930 of Dover. No children. Donnagene, Thank you very much. You added a whole line to the Jones Family tree, much more progress than I have had in months. I confirms that some family stayed around Zionsville. That and one of the hard names to trace. It is hard enough looking for Jones's much less one named Mary. I am much in your debt and now have some more information to chase out.
