The year of birth could be different with each census. It is hardly ever accurate! The closer the better. 3. You do not have to tell me this but sometimes it lowers the hits if you don't have much information. What is the race? Black, White, Mulatto, Native American or Mexican? 4. Oklahoma Territory is not in the census. 5. State if you know what state they resided in 1880. Sometimes you can also narrow it down by state or country they were born in. I can also do just a surname search, by state or by county. If it is a really uncommon name I can do an entire US search, example, Gallichan, Redelberger, forget Smith & Jones on that one. 6. Also try giving me the names of a spouse and/or children that I might find on the 1880 census living with the person you're looking for. Approximate year of birth.
