Joshua Nixon (7NOV1781-21NOV1872) Born in MD owned a plantation in VA and owned Slaves. Moved to Warren Co. IN and then on to Oskaloosa TWP, Clay Co. IL about 1830. First wife was Ruth HAYMOND, Second wife Helen SMITH. Ruth died in Illinois shortly after arriving in Illinois. Ruth and Joshua are both buried in the Nixon Cemetery which was located about 200 feet behind Joshua's house. Ruth (HAYMOND) NIXON was the first grave in this cemetery. Joshua's brother Benjamin B. NIXON (also buried in the Nixon Cemetery) migrated with him. Benjamin B. NIXON's son Joshua Jr. NIXON (also buried in the Nixon cemetery) is Caroline Virginia NIXON's father.
