    3. You should consider that the family might have moved on but been reported with slightly different names in the 1900 census. At least William may be living then, if the parents had died. You may find death records in IN from 1882, but not all deaths were recorded. An example of name change: William Asbury Tatum was listed as William Tatum in IN in 1870 He is very likely the Berry Tatum in IA in 1880 with a different wife and some of the same children. He also acquired some children from his second wife(?), who were also surnamed Tatum per the census. If they were his, he abandoned his first wife, Rachel Hendrixson, long before their divorce, reported by Rachel on the 1880 census for White Co. Think creatively.
