    3. Kim, You have indeed found Rachel Tatum, divorced wife of Wm Tatum, and the Nathaniel Tatum household, Wm's father. It's actually possible you may have found William. If "Berry" stands for "Asbury" and William married or was living with this Elizabeth, that could be the couple. He may have been a blacksmith. Albert could be his son and three of the others could be hers, even if their last name is listed here as Tatum. IF this is actually William, Nelly would likely be William's daughter. This is just a theory, of course. It's not perfect, because all the children have the father's birthplace as "IN" and the mother b "KY." But it's worth looking at. Thanks, Sharon At 09:49 PM 7/18/02, you wrote: >So this would be your Rachel probably??? > > Census Place: Liberty, White, Indiana > Source: FHL Film 1254324 National Archives Film T9-0324 Page 221D > Relation Sex Marr Race Age Birthplace >Rachel TATOM Self F D W 35 OH > Fa: --- Mo: --- >Emma TATOM Dau F S W 11 IN > Fa: OH Mo: OH > >Would this be the father of William?? > > Census Place: Sugar Creek, Boone, Indiana > Source: FHL Film 1254266 National Archives Film T9-0266 Page 82A > Relation Sex Marr Race Age Birthplace >Nathaniel TATUM Self M M W 64 NC > Occ: Farming Fa: NC Mo: NC >Anna TATUM Wife F M W 60 NC > Occ: Keeping House Fa: NC Mo: NC >Sallie M. 3. Kim, Here's a request with a Boone Co connection. I can't discover what happened to my gg grandfather William Asbury Tatum following his divorce from Rachel Hendrixson. Rachel was working for a family in White Co in 1880 and had her daughter Emma with her. William reportedly took one son with him, the other son and daughter were farmed out to relatives, and William may have taken off for Texas. William's sons were Albert b 1867 and Nathaniel b 1860. William would have been 44 years old in 1880. His mother and father were both born NC and he was born IN. Thanks for any light you can shed on this. 1. [INBOONE-L] Fw: 1880 CENSUS LOOK-UP OFFER
    2. Hancock's
    3. HELLO, Please read carefully There is no limit to the number of requests. Subject line - 1880 CENSUS LOOK-UP 1.In the US by June 1st, 1880 is indexed. First and last name, with variations of spellings, if any. 2. You do not need an exact year of birth, the search allows for a 5 year difference either way. The year of birth could be different with each census. It is hardly ever accurate! The closer the better. 3. You do not have to tell me this but sometimes it lowers the hits if you don't have much information. What is the race? Black, White, Mulatto, Native American or Mexican? 4. Oklahoma Territory is not in the census. 5. State if you know what state they resided in 1880. Sometimes you can also narrow it down by state or country they were born in. I can also do just a surname search, by state or by county. If it is a really uncommon name I can do an entire US search, example, Gallichan, Redelberger, forget Smith & Jones on that one. 6. Also try giving me the names of a spouse and/or children that I might find on the 1880 census living with the person you're looking for. Approximate year of birth. Many nicknames were used in the census. you'll receive from me... 1. The name of the head of household and everyone living in it. 2. The relationship of everyone to the head of household. If the relationship is listed as other, then they are not related. 3. The age, race and sex of everyone. 4. The occupation of everyone. 5. The birth place of everyone and their parents. 6. Microfilm information. Place of Census MOST IMPORTANT -- ALWAYS CHECK AND USE ONLY AS A RESOURCE THE CENSUS IS ONLY AS GOOD AS THE 1 PERSON GIVING THE INFORMATION 2 PERSON WRITING IT DOWN 3 PERSON READING IT 4 PERSON TRANSCRIBING IT 5 PERSON TYPING IT 6 I will make no type-o's as I will be copying and pasting Example: Census Place: Jefferson, Boone, Indiana Source: FHL Film 1254266 National Archives Film T9-0266 Page 104C Relation Sex Marr Race Age Birthplace Robert DOSSETT Self M M W 28 TN Occ: Farmer Fa: TN Mo: TN Nancy DOSSETT Wife F M W 31 TN Occ: Keeping House Fa: NC Mo: NC Andrew DOSSETT Son M S W 4 IN Fa: TN Mo: TN William DOSSETT Son M S W 2 IN Fa: TN Mo: TN Allie I. 1. [INBOONE-L] Looking?
    2. o At the Frankfort (Indiana) Library book sale, I found a zippered, illustrated Bible with the name Evelyn SANDERS (born 7 September 1899) etched in gold letters on the front. Inside is the marriage date (30 December 1919) of Jesse SANDERS (born 24 September 1890) and Margaret Evelyn SANDERS. Witnesses were Helen BURYMAN and May VAN EATON. Deaths noted were Jesse Guy SANDERS (17 January 1941) and what appears to be the word "mother" (18 August 1959). I would like to see a member of the family have the Bible. Marsha bodeana@netusa1.net

    1. [INBOONE-L] Civil War Soldiers - Jaques & Pauley
    2. If you don't already have them listed, here are some Civil War Soldiers who served from Boone Co IN. Joseph C. Jaques (13 March 1843-12 Dec 1921) and Lewis W. Jaques (12 Aug 1854-11 Dec 1919) They were brothers of my gr grandmother, Harriet Jaques Pauley. Her husband, Linneous L. Pauley (5 Aug 1849-18 April 1917) also served. He enlisted as a Pvt. in Co. G, 4/16/1864, age 14, and was wounded by a gunshot a month later, 5/24/1864, at North Anna River VA and was hospitalized. Following his hospitalization, he was transferred to Co F and m.o. 7/2/1865. I'm not certain if he is listed as serving from Boone Co. He was born there, listed in 1850, 1860 census there, married and died there, but his enlistment papers gives his place of residence as Tippecanoe Co. I would be interested to know if he is listed among the Boone Co soldiers. He gave his age as being "over 18" and we've heard that story. His recruiter knew better, as he was his brother, John W. Pauley. b. ca. 1840. Their parents were both deceased. John and Linneous were enumerated with their parents, John & Hannah Emily Swinney/Sweaney Pauley, in 1850 and with their uncle, Joseph Pauley, in the 1860 census. I received John' service record with Linneous' and they served to gether in both companys, however no m.o date was shown for John, so I don't know if he survived. Would be interested to know if anyone has info on John W Pauley. Lou

    3. No Charles family in Boone in 1830 or 40census. There are a lot of Charles families from Wayne Co.,In. Also in 1840 there is a David in Rush Co. A lot of people were in Rush and then came to Boone Co..There is a Joseph W. Farrow 1840 in Boone Co. and there is Francis S,George and James Wall in 1840 Boone. Perhaps wherever the Walls or Farrows moved on to the parents migrated also. In a will of Curry Constantine of Thorntown it lists a G.F Charles as a granddaughter. Will made 1877. There is a death listed for a Jacob T. Charles 55 May 7,1907 Boone Co. R-20 36(book and page in death records) You might write for this. The P.H. Sullivan Museum and genealogy Library ,225 W. Hawthorne St.,Zionsville,In 46077. They have card files with info extracted from newspapers and possibly a book with early marriage bonns. Tell them about the Jacob above and see if they have an obituary listed in the newspaper. I have had a lot of luck with them . Have to be patient as only one gal working there. They do charge a copy fee and a search fee, it's very reasonable. Good hunting! DONNAGENE p.s. did you get the link from Worldconnect webpage? No Charles in 1870 Census of Boone. No Charles in cemetery records in Boone. ----- Original Message ----- From: "WALTER PAWLIK" <froglady2@worldnet.att.net> To: <INBOONE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, April 21, 2002 10:38 PM Subject: Re: [INBOONE-L] MARRIAGE BOOKS > THANK YOU--is there a CHARLES family on that census. > Mollie Charles Pawlik > Froglady2@worldnet.att.net > ----- Original Message ----- > From: <MEKessler@aol.com> > To: <INBOONE-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Sunday, April 21, 2002 6:52 PM > Subject: Re: [INBOONE-L] MARRIAGE BOOKS > > > > No, but 1850 census of Booone Co. shows Thomas & Barbary Farrow, pg. 236. > > Both shown as born in KY.
