My hopes are, that I can get about 4 generations from John. I don't think my computer could hold more than that! :) Thanks, Thelma Ferguson Dwiggins . ----- Original Message ----- From: "Indiana" <indiana@in-motion.net> To: <INBOONE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, March 27, 2003 11:36 PM Subject: RE: [INBOONE-L] FERGUSON/ FORGUSON RESEARCHERS > Hi > > Well, what are you looking for?? 3. I got in on this message kinda late but wish to tell you that in 1918 they put on the marriage license who signed for an underage person. Perhaps they put that on because they wanted to and it may not have been required. My cousin and I were getting marriage certificates for our family and when we got the one for her father the person signing for him to get married wrote on the bottom that he had taken in this boy (our ancestor) and raised him to age 17 as no one else wanted him. by that short note in the marriage record 90 years later we were able to determine that he lived with this family and was never adopted. We were just thrilled to find that. so you never know when you request a copy of a marriage record just what may be on it. char ----- Original Message ----- From: "tom dougherty" <tomdg@worldnet.att.net> To: <INBOONE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, April 10, 2003 2:31 AM Subject: Re: [INBOONE-L] Marriage license/affidavit info > Yes, LDS filmed many of the Boone Co.,IN records. > Donnagene > ----- Original Message ----- > From: <Cck109@aol.com> > To: <INBOONE-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Wednesday, April 09, 2003 9:50 PM > Subject: [INBOONE-L] Marriage license/affidavit info > > > > Hi -Thanks for info. 2. Hi -Thanks for info. I actually have a copy of the marriage license (handwritten) and it says: "Be it remembered, that on the twelfth day of February in the year A.D. 1844, a marriage license issued to Isac Ballinger and Elizabeth Phipps, both of Boone County. Male of lawful age. Female, parent's certificate filed proven by the affidavit of George Johnson, of said County of Boone". Then it goes on to indicate re the marriage. I am trying to obtain the parent's certificate and/or affidavit of George Johnson in the hopes of determining relationship and other vital information re her parents. Based on the above info, do you think those documents are still in the files? Does anyone know if the LDS ever filmed records from Boone County? Thanks for any info. It had been quite a while since I'd been there, but it seems to me (if I remember correctly) that there use to be a lot more things on there. (I was particularly interested to see if there were excerpts from or references to any Boone Co history books.) Have things been moved and if so, where? Is the site just being remodeled and things will be back on soon? Thanks. Marsha IL

    3. Does anyone know if any of the tax duplicates have survived in Boone county records? These would be the lists showing all tax payers in each township for a given year. It would include anyone who had a bit of personal property, in addition to those who owned land. Sharon Mills
