I'm thinking this must be the same man who was, in Census 1850, listed in the household of my ancestor, Joseph REED (1812-1894) m. V. Florina ZIEGLER b.1814). "Omsted," as his name appears there, was age 18, born in North Carolina. Could Florina have have been wed previously to her marriage to Joseph REED, Bartholomew Co., Dec 1835? In the marriage index, she appears as "Florine L." Was Armsted Joseph's step-son? Also in their home for every census 1850-1870 was Florina's mother, Mary ZIGLER (Anna Maria (ROMINGER), 1785-1872, widow of Daniel ZIEGLER). Also a disabled niece, Mary Cyrilda/Erlida/Varilda REED b.ca.1847 -- I'm ??guessing?? this was doubly-related Mary Zynilla REED (1847-1897), dau of David Samuel REED m.Caroline Catherine ZIEGLER??? (per RIED family page at http://www.fmoran.com/) I'm related through Joseph & Florina's son, Sanford A. REED m. Elizabeth (Mrs. Frank DRAKE) who went to Webster Co. Missouri in the early 1880s.
