April 1, 1878) who was born in Indiana. (source: "History and Families of Montgomery Co., KS, 1869-1994", pg. 152. Her birthplace in IN was also cited in "Federal Census 1850," Shelby Co., IN, Noble Twp, Shelby Co., IN.) "My" Malissa is buried in Little Sand Creek Cemetery, Bartholomew Co., IN (this info received by email from Donna Kuhlman, May 2005, who copied down her headstone - "Melissa Flanigan, w/o John, d. 1 Apr. 1878, 41Y 5M 13D."). "My" Malissa Dunn's parents are recorded as Hosea Dunn and Elizabeth Christie. (source: "History of Shelby Co., IN, 1887", pg. 728, Information on Hosea Dunn and Elizabeth Christie from Charles L. Cook, Summer 2004. Hosea is also recorded in "History and Families of Montgomery County, Kansas, 1869-1994", pg. 152.) Some believe Hosea and Elizabeth married in October of 1820 in Shelby Co., KY, but people may have mixed up the Dunn records. I have no other evidence of Malissa's parents having been in KY. "My" John Flanigan and Malissa Dunn were married November 10, 1869 in Bartholomew Co., IN. (sources: "Marriage Records," Bartholomew Co., IN, recorded Nov 10, 1869, Roll 2, Frame 1469, Book 8, page 170. Also, per "Federal Census of 1870," Bartholomew Co., IN: Flanigan, John, 55, M, W, Farmer, b. PA, etc.). John and Malissa's three children, Willie, Hattie and Albert, are recorded in the "Federal Census of 1880," Columbus, Bartholomew Co., IN, Dist 3, Household 111, Family 115 as well as the previous census. Does any of this information match what you know about "your" Malissa/Melissa Dunn? I have known for some time about a Phillip Flanigan in the same area, who may have been born about 1805 in Lincoln Co., NC, and is said to have married a Dunn, also. I have never been able to determine if Phillip and John are related nor the name of the wife of Phillip. I have never seen source materials for this Phillip and his wife. Have you? Do you have more information? I have no Philips in my Flanigan line for the 300 years for which I have records.
